I did this update on my CNC 3018 and am very happy with the improvement. Now I can get much higher RPMs and therefore better cuts at higher speeds. This is especially true in PCB routing, where increased speed helps improve trace quality. The motor is an exact replacement. In terms of noise, it's hard to say, but it seems the noise level is about the same as the previous motor, although the pitch is different (no real changes that bother me). Note that you have to move the collet from the previous motor to this one and it might take some force to get out. Also, don't forget to tell GRBL you have a higher RPM motor if you want your speeds to be more accurate ($30 = $20000). Note that this doesn't actually change the speed of the motor, it just tells GRBL how fast the motor is turning when it's running at full speed, so you'll get "S20000" for full speed and "S10000" for half can tell speed. this is a great update. It doesn't make your 3018 a heavy-duty cutter by any means, but it helps a lot when higher speeds are needed.
