IT CAN GO FROM 5 TO 10 DEGREES, BUT THAT'S NOTHING IF EXTREMELY HOT TEMPERATURE IS NECESSARY TO MEASURE. This is the cheapest and highest quality IR thermometer on Amazon. I highly recommend it for both beginners and experts. You can also purchase a high-temperature K-type thermocouple and/or pyrometer to measure air temperature. The IR measures surface temperature and the k-type thermocouples read air temperature. It is difficult to prevent thermocouples from catching fire.
