First of all I would like to say that I really like the look of these chairs. So much so that I ordered two and a few weeks later another 2. The danger comes from the way they are built. I only use these chairs a few times a year. When not in use, they are in the bedroom closet. Recently I was sitting at a dining table set on an oriental rug and when I pushed the chair away from the table it completely collapsed! The front legs of the chair stretched out in front of me like my own legs, and I landed abruptly on the bottom of the chair, sitting. The screws on the front of the chair are only about 1 inch long and are made entirely of wood. I'm 65 years old and fortunately in very good physical condition so I didn't suffer any injuries apart from a few days with back pain. I was very grateful that my fingers were clean on the descent otherwise they would have been crippled! My husband bolted four of the chairs hoping it wouldn't happen again, although I'm not at all sure I'll be using the chairs socially so I bought them first. The first photo shows more clearly how the wood cracked as the chair collapsed.
