Bathtub overhaul including Moen Posi-Temp valve replacement and repositioning. Although the installation instructions state that the trim ring should be flush with the finished wall, in this case tile, I found that after the valve was fitted and the concrete base plate installed, I still needed to build up the wall with mortar to create it. slightly flush with adjacent walls. Thus the mortar was flush with the trim ring. I still thought the valve stem and stop tube were long enough to hold ¼ tile, but they aren't. When I realized I couldn't attach the acrylic shower handle, panic set in. I didn't like the idea of opening the wall to change the position of the valve. Luckily I wasn't the first hobbyist to over-adjust the valve and luckily Moen provided this adapter kit. An extra inch was perfect. The screw that attaches the handle is a bit long, but can easily be shortened with a hacksaw.
