Review on ACDelco GM OEM D1405B Ignition Switch by Jay Brock

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My 69 GS inclined column now has ACC again.

Ordered another switch here from Standard a few years ago, no matter where I hired this switch, it didn't offer me a trigger function or accessories. This solved that problem, this is True Tilt GM Ignition Switch. There are differences between tilt and non-tilt switches, so be careful which one you order. Maybe someone put a non-tilting one in my previous package when I bought it, then I figured there was another problem since the machine was in use, like the wrong gear I bought to replace the broken one I had installed at the same time and wasn't. I won't try to rip it apart and fix it just for the function of the accessory. I'm glad I bought this because now I can do what it's supposed to do, switch to the accessory, remove the key and let the passengers listen to music when I go in to pay for gas etc. The switch works smoothly , with an adjustment pin. Installation was easy, simply hold the ignition in the locked position with no key inserted, remove all panels under the pillar, remove the 2 9/16" nuts holding the 'cradle' pillar, slowly lower it off if you have an automatic, some were bolted to sensors to move the indicator, mine was bolted in some just bolt lugs to push 2 harnesses out of the switch, attach the new one, the harnesses can be the first to make it no tricky corners, attach the screws, pull out the blue dowel pin and complete the rest of the steps in reverse order. For me it was a 10-15 million job, over the years I've done dozens in GM-A bodies.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other picks
