As one user wrote, it's "a great alternative to replacing the entire assembly" in terms of affordability versus paying someone else to install it. This was the first time I've done this type of work and when I realized the problem was in the old engine, this was the solution. I will say that while using the old fan impeller, keep the shaft lock washers intact. I had to spray some WD-40 on it and carefully pry it away from the wheel with needle nose pliers to loosen the old motor, then spray again and gently push it back on when installing the new motor. After I put the entire assembly back on, the engine ran but struggled a bit, as did the old engine before it died. I realized that the hose that led to the vent outside was clogged with dust and something, it must have been powder that people used after they showered and was clogging their airways after about a decade of use. You'll need a vacuum if that's your case, and you should probably clean it as maintenance anyway since you've already picked things up. So I untied the knot and cleared my airways with this thin magic cloth that ended up in my basement. I cleaned the airways (hoses) from the inside of the vent coming out as much as possible, then climbed onto the porch roof to clean the vent and outside as much as possible. Upon completion, I reattached the assembly. The fan worked perfectly. Just a note for reference for others - keep those airways clear or it could kill your fan motor. you live and learn. A good buy, but you also have to do your due diligence to keep things clean. Hope that helps.
