Review on Nikon 35mm f/1.8G Auto Focus Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras - Black (Model 2183) by Goro Ueda ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

In general, everything is not bad, but I expected more.

If not for the marriage of autofocus, it would be an ordinary everyday lens, with a very versatile focal length. To demonstrate strong XA, I brought a photo taken with this lens at f2.8 (pay attention to the branches at the top). And a couple more photos to demonstrate bokeh and the overall picture as a whole. Has some pros Compact. Autofocus after purchase worked quietly and fairly accurately. My instance had no front/back focus. Affordable (for those who are not engaged in commerce, this glass can become a budget alternative to KIT). Metal bayonet. For the paranoid, who are afraid of damaging it, or those who often change lenses, this will be a plus. My use case did not involve frequent glass replacement on the carcass, so it makes no difference. Has cons: Strongly expressed XA on an open aperture. Someone in this case will offer to cover the aperture to f2.8. But, sorry, when buying a lens I want to use all its aperture capabilities, plus the bokeh at 2.8 is not so pronounced. The bokeh itself is nothing surprising. The lens does not have any pattern of its own. The usual technical bokeh is neither good nor bad. I shot about 300-400 shots on this glass, after which the autofocus motor began to live its own life. At the most inopportune moment, he simply refused to focus (I had to take the entire series of photos in manual focus mode). A day later, autofocus worked, but the device focuses only after 30 seconds of holding the focus button and does it with some kind of incomprehensible creak, while focusing itself often began to miss.
