Review on Korky 5030BP Universal Toilet Flapper by Luke Cotton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic conversion for the American Standard Champion 4. Finally a toilet that actually flushes.

I have an American Standard Champion 4260. The OEM design of their flush valve is terrible. It has a valve opening greater than 3.5" and will not fit any of the "universal" drain valves on the market. It uses a centered column that rises momentarily with each flush, allowing water to flow into the bowl. The Valve opening is 5" above the bottom of the tank. So even if there is 10, 11, 12" of water in the tank, ONLY the water above the valve opening will go into the bowl. Although it can be water saving, it does not supply enough water to to generate the force to initiate a true "flush". Enter the Korky 5030BP! Firstly, THIS IS NOT A UNIVERSAL flush valve but is made for the American Standard Champion Series. Along with a number of other brands/instructions great and descriptive.Follow each step carefully and be aware that the instruction differs depending on the size of the valve hole as well as the type of sponge seal.Make sure the sponge seal is perfectly in place f the lower half fits the toilet when reassembling, and s insure it properly. (My first attempt failed and leaked. I installed it correctly and everything is fine.) Now the valve hole is at the bottom of the tank and almost all of the water in the tank goes into the bowl, creating enough force to move the Tank actually flush toilet . Because the cistern is very large, you can easily lower the overflow pipe to a lower height to maintain water efficiency and still get a good flush. An economical solution to an annoying problem. Definitely recommended!
