First, 4K in cables is irrelevant. All can handle 4K but won't give you 4K. It depends on the source. You will most likely need an active Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to get 4K from your Mini DisplayPort. And here this cable does not help. Worse still, there are versions of DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.2. If your graphics card is 1.1 DP, make sure the adapter you get is not just 1.2. Obviously there are graphics cards that contain active processing. Thunderbolt and possibly cards including something called Dual Mode DisplayPort (DP++). If this is yours, then this cable is fine.
