I bought this for more even temperature control for my electric smoker. It was very easy to set up and use with the included instructions (which are in very small print). It makes a soft, audible click when power is cycled on and off; It's nice to have a beep that it's working. To reduce the rapid on and off, I set the upper and lower temps 10 degrees (F) above and below my target temp and it turns on when the low trigger number is pressed and turns off when the high trigger number is reached. I drilled a small hole in the top back of the smoker and wrapped the temp probe tightly with aluminum foil a couple of times before inserting it into the newly drilled hole. Then, inside the cabinet, I screwed a nut onto the probe, and the nut screwed onto the aluminum foil wrapper to hold the probe firmly in place so it wouldn't slip out the back of the smoker. On the outside of the smoker, I then carefully glued the remaining foil to the back of the probe with a knife so that it does not slip into the housing (see picture). It provides continuous, even heating and you can set your desired range with as much temperature variability as you like. This is a great product that works as advertised. I highly recommend it for use with an electric smoker.
