I used to have a brass shop scraper that I lost when I moved. I chose stainless steel. It's just as good, the best tool you can have for working with Windows. One trick is to wash the window with your solution (a few drops of dish soap, some vinegar or alcohol or whatever, and water). THEN run your finger in a dry towel or cloth along the very top of the glass. Then start with a mop. This small movement keeps the water from dripping down from that tiny space above. Wipe a little and you have a window like in a show house.
