Minor cons for KVM switches

Reading the reviews for this product I thought the reviewers must be crazy. Complaining that it only comes with DVI-I? Well, it turns out this is a bigger problem than it sounds, and here's why: This device only comes with DVI-I cables, and they are not standard DVI-I cables . One end is DVI-I, the other is DVI-I plus audio; i.e. it separates the audio so you can connect graphics card and sound card separately but then they are integrated at the other end. So if you have a DVI-D system, simply using a DVI-D cable is not enough. You MUST use the included cables unless you require audio support. Therefore, you need an adapter, not just the right cable. It didn't affect me, but it's kind of an oversight. I had some setup issues, which were eventually resolved by discovering that when you boot up, it appears you should switch the device to the computer. I have no idea why, since EDID throughput should work independently, but that's exactly what I observed. Otherwise it's a good, very versatile KVM. You can toggle with keyboard hotkeys and even separate video/input from audio by playing audio on one system and watching on another. Its flaws are minor, and once set up properly, it works great. If your computers accept DVI-I, just buy it.
