Decent product, no Linux drivers required with current distribution

The device works well and all the cables that came with it were of decent quality. This product does NOT include drivers for Linux or OSX. It's not really a big deal, just use the manual switches on the top of the device. IMPORTANT UPDATE! After doing the usual upgrades on the two Linux PCs I use with this KVM switch, the NUMLOCK key started working to switch the device between the two PCs. 5 STARS

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • This makes me angry

But works very well.

It switches between computers without any problems, but I don't like the layout of the DVI connectors, which is very poor and impractical. It's not even a remote control! So why set them up like this? I bought it some time ago but until today I decided to plug it in. A cumbersome configuration will require you to come up with creative ways to place it on your desk; especially since the DVI cables are not very long. At my work they use this brand, but this version (VGA) has all connections on…

Not the best choice for CLI/text fields

This device will NOT work with pure CLI (Command Line Interface) settings. It needs a GUI on boot for KVM to recognize the machine. I have a home lab with two FreeBSD machines. I'm on the CLI most of the time. This device does not see the computer after booting. You need to turn everything off, connect the screen and keyboard directly to the computer, charge, and only then connect the cables back to the KVM. Considering this is a lab setup and I'm always testing/rebooting/changing stuff around…

and they work great. I have bought another brand in the past

I have bought several of these and they work great. I've bought another brand in the past and had to replace them all because they just stopped working after a few months. They are easy to install and easy to use.

  • clear also for the old

Minor cons for KVM switches

Reading the reviews for this product I thought the reviewers must be crazy. Complaining that it only comes with DVI-I? Well, it turns out this is a bigger problem than it sounds, and here's why: This device only comes with DVI-I cables, and they are not standard DVI-I cables . One end is DVI-I, the other is DVI-I plus audio; i.e. it separates the audio so you can connect graphics card and sound card separately but then they are integrated at the other end. So if you have a DVI-D system, simply…

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time
Cons
  • Nothing

Not consistently good for computers and accessories

It worked great when I first got it, but stopped working after about 5 months. I used USB primarily so I could switch between my work laptop and home computer without needing two sets of mouse and keyboard. As I said, it just doesn't work anymore and is unusable. I went back to manually switching the keyboard between laptop and desktop.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • not reliable
