It works! My hundred-year-old house has no wiring for a doorbell, and I sure as heck didn't want to drill through the plaster and stucco to run power to the exterior. I bought the waterproof model, because Minnesota summers are humid and winters are. unpleasant, to say the least. Some are normal (ding-dong, the Big Ben chimes, etc.), there are a lot of songs, and a few Christmas carols for the holiday season. Choosing a chime is annoying; you have to cycle through all 50 to get back to one you liked as you can only go forward through the lineup. It took me a while to find one my cats wouldn't freak out over. The volume is adjustable too.For mine, I have the doorbell mounted on stucco, about six inches from a metal storm door. The receiver is inside a bedroom, about 15ft away. The signal goes through the exterior wall and two interior walls just fine.
