Making jewelry, cross stitch, even "diamond (rhinestone) 5D paintings” (super fun, just painting by numbers, hobby, sticking rhinestones on a pre-printed canvas but very small, in detail) requires the ability to zoom in LOTS AND adequately light the area I'm working on. I've had the lamp for many years, but a few years ago the base just broke in half. I had partially supported it with cardboard, but the lack of stability of the "improvised" base was very "annoying", I couldn't position the lamp where I needed it. After years of searching hardware stores, even IKEA, I finally found the METAL version. Let me tell you it's reliable - and now, for maybe the first time in my life, I can set up and FIX the light/magnifying lens EXACTLY in any position I want. I saved $80 by not having to buy a brand new lightbulb (probably with a plastic base?). Great offer.
