If you are looking for a vise that will be strong and dependable for the next 10 years then this is not it. But you're only looking at it now because it's probably something within your budget. My dad uses Wilton, it's fantastic. But you have to be prepared to shell out Wilton's money if you need this kind of quality ($140-$600). After a few weeks of use, I would say that it is more suitable for clamping. Simple repair work on your own, woodwork. I'm a little apprehensive about using it when I need to cut metal. I don't think I'll be using it in five years. But then again, I can say the same about any vise (even Yost) that costs around fifty dollars. This is a three star product compared to the $140 Wilton. This is a four star product compared to other vises in the $40-$60 range. I've used worse, I've used better. Bottom line, if you're on a tight budget for a vise, this really is a do-it-yourselfer. I definitely don't recommend using it for commercial purposes, for everyday use (except maybe for woodworking).
