Review on Acer Predator XB271HU 2560X1440 Display ‎UM.HX1AA.001, IPS by Robert Chouinard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I've always liked high-end panels, even before I started gaming on PC. I always researched extensively and bought a TV with it

10/10! First of all, this is not my first monitor. I have always liked high-end panels, even before I started gaming on the PC, I always did extensive research and bought a TV with the best possible picture quality. Other than that, this monitor is absolutely incredible in terms of picture quality -165Hz -GSync -build quality -screen size -color accuracy -panel brightness -built-in features -PQ The picture quality is incredible. The IPS display speaks for itself as soon as you turn it on. It's so bright, vivid, precise and dark at the same time. The viewing angles are amazing, you can literally look at the screen from any angle without image distortion and without color loss, unlike TN panels. This is very noticeable and shows how much more reliable an IPS display is. My TN panel, which still looks good next to my screen, almost looks like it's water damaged or something compared to IPS (I know they have wildly different 2k and 1080p resolutions, but I'm speaking only of brightness and color). based entirely on pre-packaged settings (and they're great). -G-Sync makes everything smooth like clockwork when using one of the newer Nvidia cards. None of my previous monitors have taken advantage of this technology, but it's undoubtedly noticeable, and when the frame rate drops to, say, 80 fps, it still feels like 165. I built my gaming pc about 6 months ago, I started with a 28" Samsung 4k monitor. (TN panel) 60hz but I could go to 71hz. I also got myself an Asus 144hz 1080p gaming monitor as well Bought a TN panel so here I am stuck between playing/using my computer at 4k and being limited to 60-71hz or I could play at 144hz but I was limited to 1080p What I found was 1440 P this is absolutely the sweet spot right now have the absolute best performing gaming rig (Intel 6700k Skylake with 2 x GTX 1080s running in SLI) (More money could be spent but I don't know if it's possible, more fps than my rig is outputting). I would now like to live in a world where we could play 4k and get 100+ fps in all games. Some gamers can hit 100+ fps in 4K but no monitor can display that I believe the fastest 4K monitor out there right now is only at 8 5Hz overclocked. Also if you play competitive FPS or some unoptimized Steam games like Rust and H1Z1 KOTK, it's impossible to get decent FPS in these games (70+ in 4k), but in 1440 you can easily get 100+ depending on your install. So this monitor is absolutely perfect when it comes to the highest possible FPS currently available, as well as absolutely killer PQ, color accuracy, black levels, brightness, etc. The list goes on. I've wondered if a $700+ monitor would be worth it, if G Sync would be different, if I should just get a flash drive with my current monitors, and I can say with absolute certainty that I do I am happy with my purchase I would do it again. I can still get the Vive lol but just saying if this monitor didn't improve my setup a lot I would return it and I will leave without hesitation. I now use this monitor paired with my 1080p Asus rotated 180* in portrait mode next to it so I can see specific things and have a second monitor while gaming without taking up too much desk space. This is by far the best update I've ever made for my computer. .
