I used this today to get out a clogged laundry tub so figured I might as well look through it. I really think it's worth paying a little extra for one like this to connect you all with one drill. It makes working in tight ducts a lot easier and if you're doing something light or your drill's battery dies, it's still working by hand. a bit cheesy - but not that it had any reliability issues or anything, and I've used it a few times. On the other hand, it is quite light and does not rust. It is worth knowing how to use the snake. It's worth it the first time you use it, but there's definitely some engineering involved and if at all possible I'll find someone to show you the basic idea before you actually need it. Then expect the first time to take a while if you're really unlucky. But hey, you'll probably have it cleaned before the plumber comes and you'll save a ton, and it gets easier every time.
