I had some drip line I wanted to attach to some hose bibs I ran into my backyard for watering a few fruit trees. I already had the drip line and some metal female hose repair fittings, but I just needed a way to mate them. Now I could have bought pre-made adapters, but I'd rather be cheap and try to MacGyver my way through things. After some wildly clever tricks to get the drip line to snugly fit inside the female hose fitting, I slipped the heat shrink tubing over it and applied the heat gun. In no time it snugged right up and the adhesive started bulging out of the ends. I ran it under cold water and tested it to ensure it had strong, watertight bond. I was so impressed with the stuff I actually put another section on the end of the drip line, heated it till it shrunk as small as it could on the end, then crimped it with some plyers. I attached it to the water line again and it held the pressure like a champ. Here's a picture of the finished product. It's not pretty, but the fruit trees don't care about looks, it's your personality they really value.
