Nice set of grit files for price

This set came as advertised, with a wide range of grit from very coarse #40 to very fine #600. The files are coated on edge, as well as on the surfaces, which is an advantage for me. Tested a fine-grit file on alumina, modified Mohs hardness 12, and it removed material rapidly (though it also wore noticeably).

Pros
  • Not quite as versatile as I would like, but they work well for what they are,
Cons
  • They are not suitable for larger surfaces

Better than a fingernail file

I have used these things extensively on any edge I needed shaped or sharpened. Upon arrival the 600 grit had about 1 cm of bare area in the grit section. Hobby Tool Supply replaced that one file quickly. I am glad I got these. They don't wear out like stuff I had when I was younger. Fingernail files and sandpaper wrapped around a Popsicle stick can not compare to these things.

Pros
  • Very useful and the price is right!
Cons
  • The file set cannot be used for both wet and dry applications

I purchased these to reshape a bone guitar nut. It works beautifully! The files are a perfect size for close quarter work. The quality was surprising. Very well made. I highly recommend.

Pros
  • 2" / 50mm diamond coated surface
Cons
  • The coatting mechanism used for the grits is not up to standard

Continuing good performance

I am using these files to shape and smooth smalti (glass) mosaic tile. After considerable use they show no wear and continue to perform the same as when they were new. They perform exactly as I hoped they would.

Pros
  • The set comes in a compact case for easy storage and transport
Cons
  • The set is not inclusive enough, and there are other files needed to complete a job

Easy to use! good for me

Saved me having to replace the pitcher from my Krups blender. My husband chipped it loading the dishwasher. Saved me from having to replace the husband!

Pros
  • Pretty good file set. Sturdy and the work well for my needs.
Cons
  • The diamond particles are not evenly distributed across the file, making them ineffective

good price/do the job

I've never owned diamond files before. I like the way they can be used in any direction and give a uniform "bite" on the material.

Pros
  • Great product.
Cons
  • The files are not sharp enough to work on hard materials

Good, sturdy file set

This file set is pretty much as described. The base metal stock is fairly thick to allow for some decent leverage during filing. The range of grit is what interested me, and the coarse 40 grit is great for getting fast material removal. You can always find fine and super-fine diamond files, so this is the advantage of this set. I would have given five stars if the files were slightly wider, like conventional ones. Overall, this is a fine set and good value.

Pros
  • The 150 grit diamond coated needles provide a smooth and accurate filing experience
Cons
  • The file set is made from substandard materials

good stuff best in my review

i use these files all the time to work on my jade. this is the second set ive bought , but im still using the first set. the diamonds are bonded well enough that they remain useful for a long time

Pros
  • Working fine for smoothing out rough edges on cut stained glass pieces. Quality seems decent.
Cons
  • Do not purchase if you intend to use for stained glass work

Works, except for the very finest grit

The files seem to work as advertised, except for the 600 grit, which seems not to have been coated well. A large part of the 600 grit file is without any diamond coating at all.Luckily I bought the files to start an edge on a Kershaw "Outcast" knife, and, I used only the 240 and 400 grit files. Quality control is poor to say the least, buy with caution!

Pros
  • The diamond coating allows for an easy and accurate filing experience on hard and soft materials
Cons
  • The set is not suitable for grinding tasks

Good for the price, and works well with various sizes

Works well depending on a light duty job. Such as filing away wood for inserting a deadbolt and small jobs like that. Also really good for shaving sharp metal so that you don't have to worry about cutting yourself when you touch a pipe

Pros
  • The diamond coating resists wear and tear during prolonged use
Cons
  • The file set is not well-marketed, making it hard to identify
