Description of OATEY 43401 Set-Rite Toilet Flange Extender 🚽 Kit, 1/4 to 1 inch, Red and Yellow

Corrects an improper flange height from 1/4 in. - 1 in. during repair and remodels. Easily extend the flange surface above the floor for optimum sealing with a standard wax ring. Use on existing PVC, ABS, cast iron, and stainless steel ringed flanges. Spacers can be combined to meet the desired height. Foam rubber gasket seals the spacers to the new flange.

Set-rite (Genius): Rough Plumbing

Made my husband's life sooo much easier. Anyone who has installed toliet before has done nothing! This product saved him from a headache. Thank you!

Cheaper than plumbing, safer than wax putty.

The previous owner of the house put the new floors right on top of the old ones so that the toilet flange was 1/2+ below the (new) floor. Looks like someone just bought a thicker wax ring or doubled the wax to make up the difference that eventually caused the toilet to leak. This is a simple and inexpensive solution to raising the flange without having to professionally cut the floor and pipes to raise it to ground level. Set up was fairly easy, although I had to search their YouTube videos for

Not so easy to use on cast iron

Got this because I knew I needed to raise the flange because of a new tile job I did recently. What I didn't read soon enough is that to use on cast iron you need an unreinforced wax ring to get a good seal. This means that you need a wax ring without an inner flange. I should have found out beforehand, but I didn't. It also says you can use the included self-tapping screws to drill holes in cast iron. nope I had to pre-drill a 3/16" diameter hole for the screw to fit in and hold properly. Once
