Bought for a simple install of a 2016 VW GTI [more trouble with the old one than this one.

Bought for my 2016 VW GTI, easy installation [more aging issues than turning it on] took about 30 minutes. Noticed a slight increase in MPG, a significant increase in lighter rpm and power - as expected! Looks good, great quality. I also ordered a pre-filter to protect against water.

No horsepower gain if you don't get the tune.

NO horsepower increases due to intake alone unless you tune the ECU. people don't waste their money this has been proven by all the famous companies like APR, even you can call and ask if a golf gti or golf r mk7 will do nothing with just a shot modification, there is no confirmed increase in hp, even you will feel a loss of performance. To see the horsepower increase. Any intake in the VW Golf GTI and R mk7 you need an ECU tune and then see how the HP gain is added with the cold air intake…

Decent enough for the price.

I've been modifying cars for decades so I have quite a bit of experience with air intakes. I don't like short tube intakes even if they come with heat shields. They are more susceptible to heat. Either way, it's not the best option, but it works well. No error codes. I run the JB1 on my GTI on a softer octane rating of 91 (+4.8psi) even though I run 93 octane fuel. The inlet allows more airflow without wasting time. After installing the intake, the torque definitely increases. What I like best…
