I did the stupid thing and punched my tiles with a hole for the protruding part of the valve but there wasn't enough room for the whole assembly so it didn't line up when I tried to put the handle back on and it doesn't fit. After 10 years our second bathroom needed a replacement shower cartridge. We thought it would be an easy do-it-yourself project but ran into problems at every step.
