🌀 Premium Replacement Filters for Winix 5500-2 Air Purifier - HEPA & Activated Carbon Combo Pack, Part # 116130 Review

I chose not to use the charcoal filter that came with the kit as I found the old ones worked fine after flushing and all would. Also, I can now always switch to a new charcoal filter after the pre-rinse to prevent charcoal dust buildup. The new filter is great. Looks the same and works as far as I can tell.

I'm a mechanical engineer who has designed HVAC systems and was originally in Mauro about this; but now that i have them i have changed my mind. This is a great replacement for OEM filters as they are exactly the same size and performance as the more expensive manufacturer filters. I will definitely be ordering another set in 12 months.

HEPA material and activated carbon are mass produced, so it makes sense to save some money by choosing something that's probably "just as good". After installing this filter, I noticed that my Winix 5500-2 was having some issues, to the point where I could smell "burning". I replaced the filter with the original Winix filter and not only has the airflow increased significantly, but the smell of burning has gone. Maybe I'm stupid?

I wasn't sure if I should try these as they are not original Winnex filters but they appear to be exactly the same! I was concerned when some reviewers noticed an odor when opening the air purifier and turning it on, but I didn't notice anything. I am so happy that my air purifier is working again and seems to be working great. Would definitely recommend and would buy again as it's half the price of big brand filters.

In general, this filter is not bad. It doesn't look like a real filter and charcoal at all. The charcoal chunks are smaller and dustier outside of the packaging, which means it can hold fewer gases and clog the filter prematurely. The filter itself is fine but very flexible around the frame. I don't think I would buy it again, even with a 50% discount on the original part.

The only thing wrong with the charcoal filter is that it doesn't come with instructions on how to flush it before use. Both the activated carbon filter and the HEPA filter were shipped individually sealed in plastic wrap. I didn't see much dust after unpacking the activated carbon filter. I saw about the same amount of dust washed out of the charcoal filter as the original. Use the old activated carbon filter while you wait for the new one to dry. I'm tired of paying more than 1/3 the price of my Winix 5500-2 air purifier for a set of Winix brand replacement filters. I dared this set from AirClean. I received this order on time. These filters are the right size (I measured them with calipers) and they look and feel the same as the Winix brand replacement filters currently in my 5500-2 Air Purifier ATM.
