A good replacement is a watch with a chain attached

Bought this to replace my damper. On my old valve, the silicone seal came loose and that was the cause of my leak. FYI I didn't know anything about this replacement. On my old shock, the pull chain was attached to the front of the shock. This one is in the middle. You wouldn't think it would matter, but before the flush it does matter. This one in the middle doesn't give enough flush time when open unlike my old one with the chain in front. This seems like a good replacement, but it doesn't…

The quality is good, it works well, the price is reasonable.

Seems good quality works well. Simply snap onto the flush valve body after removing the old damper. It's a hard plastic case with a softer silicone material for the actual seal. I've installed hundreds of valves and have learned to avoid all vinyl types for 3" valves as the water pressure tends to warp them over time causing them to sag in the center and leak water down the drain. a box like the ones you buy in the store. This is an American standard part but should fit any Thiole that uses a…

The original lasted 10 years. This lasted 3 months

Looks the same as the original except the upholstery material is now white instead of black. I would have thought it was fake except that American Standard actively interacts with customers. Anyway, I bought 2 identical Cadet 3 toilets 10 years ago. And the original damper lasted 10 years. I've even used bleach pills which are known to be bad for gum. I was happy to find a standard American brand for fast shipping but these new ones only lasted 4 months. In the last 2 weeks both of my toilets…

Not a standard Good for toilet valves here

When I think of the American standard, I think it would be easy to find a valve for my toilet as if it were a 'standard'. Not correct! When my valve started leaking I had a spare in the garage and thought it would fit. Not correct! Okay, it looks like there are two types, 2" and 3", but this is more. I have 3 inches. So my wife voluntarily goes to the nearest plumbing store to buy the right one. After a few phone calls, photos, and a toilet model number, she comes back with a flap that fits…

Will not fit my American Standard Cadet 3.

I accidentally bought this valve to fix a leaking American Standard Cadet 3 with a 3" flush valve. You might think that since American Standard sells both toilets and their parts, an American Standard toilet would use American Standard replacement parts, but you are wrong. Apparently my American Standard Cadet has universal Fluidmaster components inside and the two dampers are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE. When you go to American Standard's website, you are prompted to look at the cap color. If you have

Fits perfectly! on Rough Plumbing

I've been looking for a suitable damper for a few months. I have a Vitra toilet. I've tried Fluidmaster (recommended by Vitra as my toilet model is being phased out, so no more toilet parts), Korky and a few others hoping to find at least one damper that fits my toilet. None of them worked and I've tried at least 5 and they were all more expensive than this flapper. A Fluidmaster cost almost three times as much as this valve and still my toilet was leaking or not flushing properly :-/ I ended…
