Professional quality finish

This product does a great job of removing wood grain lines leaving a clean and flawless finish. You definitely need to apply 2-3 coats. I've experimented with different application methods and the most effective has been to use an old credit card to smear it onto the grain and then scrape it off - and use gloves. The work belongs to the grain. You have to use your finger to make hard-to-reach places. Be sure to remove any imperfections of the product during application and hand sand between…

AMAZING RESULT! on wood spatula

This material was perfect for our oak kitchen cabinets. I cleaned and sanded the cabinets and then followed the directions exactly to apply three coats of AquaCoat with a light sanding in between. It took a lot of time, but it was worth it. I used a spray gun to apply one coat of Sherwin Williams Extreme Block Stain Prevention Primer/Sealer and then two coats of Sherwin Williams Emerald UrethaneTrim Enamel (expensive color but great). Closet doors look better than professional painting! The…

Great product for wood filler

I have read many reviews, tutorials and watched many videos to prepare for painting my rather grainy oak kitchen cabinets. I am very impressed with this product. I found that brushing against the fibers and scraping with the fibers worked best for me - I pressed and smoothed out some tricky spots on the cabinets with my finger. I'm not 100% ready yet and have been experimenting along the way and actually found that one coat, quick sand, one coat of binder earth and then another coat of that…

  • Unbelievable price

Good product, labor intensive.

I have used this product on oak cabinets to fill in the grain so the cabinets can be painted white. I applied 3 coats with 220 loops between coats. The surface is very smooth. Doors, for example, appear to be made of glass. I give 4 stars for the value for money. It seems expensive. I considered just using drywall mud, but decided against that approach after reading other people's comments. Dirt can cause wood to crack. I didn't want to take the risk as this project was for my client and not in

  • Non automatic

Ideal for oak cabinet tops

For example if you are applying to oak cabinet tops and want it to be nearly grain free and smooth. I wouldn't apply it unless you use a minimum 220 grit finish paper, otherwise you'll want to sand away a lot of it and root the grain well. Then maybe hit it lightly with your hand at 220 or more and it only takes a few light taps and it's best to use a sponge or block to stay flat. Never leave windrows or the like at the edges. It has small faucet blending capabilities where uneven body surfaces

bottom line? Its worth it! Just learn how to use it first.

Like many people I have honey oak cabinets that were very popular in 2002 but not so popular now. either loved Aqua Coat or wish they would use it. It got to the point on one project where he stated in the comments that he had used Aqua Coat on other projects and highly recommended it. I didn't want to spend a few more euros. So I tossed a coin and it came up heads, which meant fate wanted me to get it. Ordered from Revain and it was here the next day. I read the instructions and followed him…

Smooth finish but does not hide fibers

We have three bathrooms in our home, each with a standard oak sink. I painted two of these before using Aqua Coat and gotten pretty good results with 2 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of paint. I was considering painting our kitchen cabinets but really wanted to hide the texture completely so I decided to use Aqua Coat for our final vanity. I thought this would give me a good comparison and see if the extra step is worth the time. I started by cleaning the cabinets and doors, removing the shine…

Thousands saved. Buy this

I had old oak cabinets with black granite. It was dark in my kitchen. Instead of spending $50,000 on new cabinets, I decided to only spend $500 on paint and new hardware. I had a problem: oak grain. After watching numerous YouTube videos about grain filling, I came across a paint channel that only used AquaCoat. I figured it looks easy enough and dries fast enough to risk it. I'm glad I did! I followed the instructions exactly. I had already degreased and pre-sanded my doors when it arrived…
