This is a very small head

I have a 60GPH model. VERY SMALL in a 10 gallon tank (looks like a toy head). I have it on a sponge filter because I don't really believe that air power alone can effectively draw water into sponges. In addition, the use of air pumps is very noisy. It reassures me that the water is drawn into the sponges and quietly. I don't need super water flow because I have shrimp and plants in a small tank so at the time of purchase I was initially concerned that the tank would have too much water, but itโ€ฆ

Quiet pump and good value for money but there are some downsides.

I bought several of these in different sizes. They work well and are quiet when used as a gravel pack pack. Unfortunately, they have two flaws.1. The nozzle included in the kit doesn't have a lot of adjustment options. It directs the flow 90 degrees and is not adjustable side to side or up and down. My solution was to shorten the riser under the gravel pack so the pump was halfway between the top and bottom of the tank. Then I removed the 90 degree adapter and let it direct the water onto theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Very expensive

It's about half the size of an Aquaclear or Marineland motor head, Marineland is dead in the photo so you can see the difference in size and length of the cables. The cord was so short I could only use it on a 10 gallon tank with an extension alongside. I bought this to replace the print head in my 44 gallon corner tank but the cord was so short it barely hung over the rim of the tank and the inlet with adapter was too small to fit snugly into a tank hose to fit standard size. sponge filter. NOT for all advertised applications.

Purchased for use with a proven Underkies Biofilter which does not require a very strong head as it is not the main aquarium filter. The performance is spot on in relation to the functionality of the underground filtration system - it doesn't generate a strong current to overwhelm the fish but just right for the filtration needs. Unfortunately this little head is useless if your undergravel filter uses standard 1" pipes (like most) as it is too small to securely seal the pipe opening! Soโ€ฆ

Fairly anemic, small adapter, weak suction cups

I bought this for a single dose of UGF in a 20 gallon hex reservoir. The inlet insert is very small and will not fit a standard tube. I personally don't think it's strong enough to work with UGF. The flow is moderate, which has its advantages on a tall and narrow tank, and yet it should be better than an Aeroston. Forget the air hose nozzle used to saturate the tank with oxygen. The edge where the air hose attaches is about an eighth of an inch high and the hose remains unattached. Hold theโ€ฆ

very uncomfortable; Seems to be underperforming

I bought the 60 GPH version to power a cyclic sponge filter for a small Betta aquarium because the air pump gurgling and buzzing was driving me crazy and I was hoping that it would provide more flow for the aquarium. Since it only has a nano hob and everything is behind a flat piece of very holey Mopani, the flow is somewhat blocked. it is quieter than an air pump. However, generating electricity through the tank is NOT very conducive. The included mounts and suction cups are rubbish. The cupsโ€ฆ

Great for true nano aquariums

I use this small head with a 3 gallon nano aquarium that I use as a backup when I quarantine fish before moving them to my larger tanks. However, the tank is permanently installed. I use it with the included air nozzle to get extra air into the tank. For this purpose it worked great. Note that I was specifically looking for a tiny head, so the fact that it's really small and doesn't have much flow is actually a plus. Regardless, the flow is pretty strong for an aquarium of this size, so Iโ€ฆ

The flow is clearly too high. Limited buoyancy and low performance.

In no case does the actual flow rate of this drive head, as stated in the description, even come close to the exact one. What I have is almost no flow at all and this is also due to the flow from the pump being completely submerged in the water of my aquarium. The word "trickle" is perhaps a better word for the slight movement of a liquid. The only strong point I noticed about this model is the power consumption as it sucks the mediocre amount of water it manages to pump. Therefore, the termโ€ฆ
