Works perfect! Betta loves bubbles!

Bought for a new 5.5g betta which I installed because the supplied filter was generating too much current. This filter is perfect! This filter plus a small air pump is still cheaper than most stovetop or internal filters. Ordinary sponge filters are ugly and take up too much space. This thing fits perfectly and almost blends into the aquarium. We added a new betta yesterday after getting caught in a loop and he loves bubbles. It swims right up to the outlet and rides the bubbles up to the topโ€ฆ

It was a cheap and great secondary filter if you already have one

This was a cheap and great secondary filter if you already have one. I have an aquarium with mollies and two mollies have an insane bioburden. Here I have a normal filter from Aqueon and this one in the corner. Not particularly easy to clean - you really need a sharp fingernail or something to open the lid - but otherwise very easy and overall a great idea - this is a filter with 3 types of sponges (2 dark - one fine, one coarse, 1 light) plus ceramic spatula and pebbles on the bottom. good value for money; buoyant

Benefits: two pre-cut sponges at top, space below can be used with media or substituted with other biological or chemical filter media; powered by air, so as long as you have a silent air pump, it will not be noisy and aerate the aquarium during filtration; fits perfectly in the corner of the tank. The bad: The plastic case is pretty buoyant and you pump air through it, so you need a few rocks on the bottom to make it heavier. Strange: the rocks hitting the bottom, weighing it down, containedโ€ฆ

Terrible! fit for filter accessories

A year ago I may have given a good review after using it for more than a year, I say buy yourself a decent regular sponge filter. Firstly I just had trouble with them on SO MANY levels, firstly they are tanks supporting WTO fish and I had a hard time keeping the cycle going! Second, sometimes they have to be put on something to hold bubbles, and we're talking a small tank, no more than 10 gallons, three. I just spent an hour trying unsuccessfully to give him a tube while my precious bacteriaโ€ฆ

Cute little filter!

I started farming fish as a kid in the 70's and they were standard in your goldfish tank back then. My 55 gallon tank has a canister filter as well as a sponge filter. but was at a loss as to what to use in a 5 gallon betta tank. I'm a bit tired of HOB filters as they can get stuck, esp. after a power failure. And if they are put out of circulation for a while, they can become poisonous. Also, there's an issue with the intake that can accommodate the smooth fins, which would require a sock. The

Works great in a 5.5 gallon betta tank.

I bought a 5.5 gallon starter kit for my betta fish. It came with a filter but it was so strong my poor betta got stuck in it. After much research I found out that the recommended betta filter is an internal air operated filter. I haven't had much luck locally, but I found this one and a few others at Revain. I chose this one because it fits perfectly in the corner of my aquarium and doesn't clutter up the decor (I have some driftwood, a small hideout hut, Marimo moss balls, and some liveโ€ฆ

Excellent filters in aquarium pumps and filters

Running two of these with a Tetra Whisper 20 air pump using a metal divider with independent valves and Penn Plax tubing. The hose had to be stretched a bit before I could work it on the filter. (A sanitized Phillips screwdriver is enough for stretching) I also added a buffing pad (100 micron, thin white layer in the photo) but they work fine without. Beneficial bacteria thrive on the biological environment below. (Brown slimy substance) Cleaning instructions: - Of the 2 filters in theโ€ฆ

Air bubble issues

I purchased this filter for use in a quarantine tank to prepare for adding new fish to my main tank. I was hoping for an inexpensive setup that would be quick and easy to install and remove using a cyclic filter media and at first glance this filter ticked all the right boxes. When I received it I was mostly happy. I discarded the medium included in the basket as, as other reviews have pointed out, this medium consisted of several bio rings, a small amount of gravel, and chopsticks. It workedโ€ฆ
