Type of review

It works great so far but takes a lot of timeI have 2009 Civic EX. Last time it was the relay switch but this time it was apparent it was the clutch. I read all the amazon reviews and watched youtube videos and researched the web. I bought this clutch because it was the #1 selling on amazon (who knows if it really is ). Then a reviewer just posted that the pully didn’t’ align and got me a little worried. The reviews for installation were discouraging. One person said it took him 7 hours…

Great Value But Incorrect Snap Rings and Shims

As other reviews have noted, get the proper shims from Honda as well as well as the necessary snap ring pliars. Plan to reuse the original snap rings. This was not an easy job due to the limited access to the compressor. It will take you the better part of a day. Considering that a shop would likely have charged my daughter $1,500 for a new compressor and associated drier and condenser, this was a satisfying repair.

Time consuming install but product has been working great since installation several months ago. I followed other reviewers’ advice and spliced the wires (except ground) which made for an

Works good, just keep some of the old parts

Fit a 2007 Honda Civic LX, got the A/C running. The two snap rings included didn't fit, the included shims were a different size than the existing parts. I used the old snap rings, shim, and nut.The splash guards inside the wheel well and the front of the engine needed to be removed, to get at the compressor from below. A number of the plastic clips broke and needed replacing. The A/C Compressor didn't need to be removed, but needed to be unbolted from the engine to create space to remove the…

no spacer washers good for me

ok, i managed to get the old one off and put this new one on. It does work. However, it does not come with any spacer washers. These are not something you can get at the hardware store, and if you are unlucky like me you'll need additional spacers. 3/8 inch washers will work as a spacer, except they are probably too thick. I filed down a brass washer to make it work. What a pain. If you're not pressed for time, maybe get a different one.

Frustrating Install, but it works

First and foremost, if I had used the supplied shims, this clutch would have destroyed itself within weeks. Look at the pictures, they’re not even close to the proper size. The instructions said to set the gap, but without specifications! Just crazy that they did not give the gap clearance for the shim install. THIS IS CLUTCH SPECIFIC, they must supply their own tolerances! There was a fly trapped inside the epoxy sealing the coil. No QC standards. But on a positive note, after spending an hour…

Cons
  • Quality may deteriorate over time

Clutch seems fine. Different than OEM as this one is more old school without the fiber clutch dampening material but that’s not the issue. The snap rings were correct in my kit vs what some others had experienced. My biggest gripe is that you will have to source correct shims as the ones included are way to big and if you use them, you will have a compressor failure from the large diameter shim contacting the compressor seal.My original shim was too thin to get the appropriate .014-.024 clutch…

Pros

High quality product, but trust me, buy the compressor

*Bottom line: just buy the compressor!* Not sure why folks knock down a quality product because it was hard to install. That's like leaving a bad review for steak because you left your dentures at home! This is not for the faint of heart. Got an open box version for $20 so it was worth a shot. Just know you will have to take the compressor out anyways. To get to it you will need to remove the alternator and then the ac lines. Prepare accordingly with refill cans for afterwards. To remove the…

Perfect fit for a Honda Civic 2009 original a/c compressor

This was a perfect fit for my Honda Civic 2009. One thing you must do is replace both the pulley and the magnet. The pulley will not work with the original magnet as it's not a perfect match. It was a replacement for the original compressor. This wasn't any easy job so be sure you have a good set of retainer pliers and you will need to remove all of the mounting bolts to swap the parts. You don't have to completely remove the compressor to do this work, just remove the 4 compressor mounting…

Pros
  • It features superior materials for enhanced durability
Cons
  • May damage other car components during installation

It wasn't easy but it worked

Got the clutch unit installed without needing to separate any coolant lines. It wasn't easy but it worked! Could have been 5 STARS if they explained the install and mentioned a new Drive Belt install location.

Pros
  • The kit is compatible with a wide range of vehicle models
Cons
  • May require frequent replacement of the compressor clutch coil assembly kit

Should’ve read the reviews first

Wrong shims for my 2006 Honda Civic and you need those special pliers to remove the o-ring thing (which is super difficult to remove without them). It took so long to figure out why the clutch wasn’t spinning and it was because the shims were the wrong size like the reviews said. Super frustrated with the misleading title. Returning the whole thing.

Pros
  • The kit is designed to withstand harsh conditions
Cons
  • May not be compatible with certain AC systems

Works good best in my review

The pully, coil, and clutch plate fits good. The only issue with the parts is as others have said, the shims do not fit. Shims are a critical part in this installation yet the correct ones aren't included. They are oversized are not the correct. You will need to purchase the correct ones.

Pros
  • Air Conditioning
Cons
  • Not a universal fit for all car models

Works great, but hold on to your old snap rings.

The only hard part is getting access to and removing the old part. New part worked like a charm, though I had the same issues as others with the snap rings and spacers not being right. Just used a small washer for the spacer and the original snap rings.

Pros
  • Compressors & Parts
Cons
  • May require additional components for correct installation

arrived early best in my review

snap rings included were not correct for vehicle, installation was fairly straight forward, parts seemed to be good quality

Pros
  • With this kit, you can keep your vehicle's AC system running smoothly for years to come
Cons
  • May cause a decrease in horsepower in some car models

Works on 2007 Honda Civic

Used to fix an ac clutch on a 2007 Honda Civic and it has worked great. I have only had it installed for 1 year and i have not had any problems. Install was pretty straight forward. But ended up using the original snap rings not the supplied ones.

Pros
  • The compressor clutch coil assembly kit eliminates the need for expensive repairs
Cons
  • May not solve the AC problem for which it is purchased

Worked for 2007 civic but keep your parts

Not an easy job, so beware. I put it on my 2007 Honda civic and it works fine. I did have to use the old snap ring for the coil because the one that came with it was too small to fit around the shaft properly. The shims that came with it for the clutch plate were too thin. I used them all and I also had to make my own shim as well. Otherwise it worked fine. Not an easy job.

Pros
  • Compressor Clutches
Cons
  • Not made of high-quality materials

Totally wrong shims complicates a relatively easy install

Walmart 1 day shipping is great. The good:Seems well built.Coil fits.Bearing/pulley fits.Clutch fits.1 Snap ring fits. The bad:1 Snap ring does not fit.The included shims are ALL the WRONG size. You better be prepared and buy the right shims ahead of the install or you will be stuck. More than likely there will only be one shim on the old clutch and you will need 3-4 for the new one. To get the right clearance. I was forced to make a shim out of a washer and some sandpaper to get the right…

Pros
  • The compressor clutch coil assembly kit is a top-quality replacement for your faulty AC system
Cons
  • May result in additional expenses in the long term

Everything fit well. Including the wires. They just Plugged right in. No splicing needed on my 2009 civic.Only issue I ran into was that the shims were not the correct diameter. The Inner diameter was too big. I had to hunt down some shims to get the air gap correct. Factory compressor shaft requires a 10mm ID shim. The ones it came with were 12mm ID. This didn’t allow for flat/true shimming.Make sure you order a shim kit along with this.Works like a charm though. Pumping nice cool air again.

Pros
  • The kit is designed to provide optimal air conditioning performance
Cons
  • The kit may rust over time

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Cheap part with good quality.

Good product with reasonable price. It was easy to install. If car doesn’t have gas in system then it will be easy to install this clutch by removing compressor out of the system. One more thing this is much better deal than dealers.

Pros
  • Engine Cooling & Climate Control
Cons
  • The kit may not be compatible with specific car models

I installed this clutch kit in my 08 Honda Civic LX and it did the trick. I would however like to warn you of a few things I found especially if you are a DIY mechanic like myself. First as you disassemble your old clutch, pulley and coil save the shims behind the clutch and the snap rings that hold in the pulley and the coil, you may need them again. My kit came with 2 new snap rings, the one for the coil was just totally wrong. It was entirely to small I.D. and O.D.dimensions, so I used the…

Pros
  • It is highly efficient and reliable
Cons
  • May not be compatible with hybrid car models
