Belkin Lies: Surge Protection

Details matter. I carefully measured everything and then paid a little more for Belkin, thinking it was a well-known brand. No, it's not a 6ft chord, it's 5ft 5in, which is a lie. If I said my driver's license was 6 feet long when I was actually 5 feet 5 inches tall, that would be a crime. Belkin didn't care. In this case I not only lost the money for the accordion but also the disposable adhesive case. (Have to rip it off the floor and take it to a UPS store for a meager refund despite wasted…

Pros
  • 720 watts of power provide maximum protection for all your sensitive electronic devices
Cons
  • No automatics

Excellent, but with a caveat

This surge protector has several advantages: it is inexpensive, it comes with wires of different lengths and the mains switch can almost never be accidentally flipped. However, it also has a major downside that prevents me from fully recommending it: There's no way to tell at a glance whether it's on or off, which is an unfortunate omission when most surge protectors have lighted switches and /or have status indicators. This is very annoying in some applications (e.g. I use it as the main…

Pros
  • Maximum surge current 48,000 amps. Clamping voltage 330V
Cons
  • Very expensive

You can never have enough surge protection. With all the electronic devices found in people's homes these days, every device needs to be connected to a surge protector. I learned this the hard way, a lightning storm caused a surge in my house and knocked out my desktop monitor that was NOT plugged into the surge protector, a hard way to learn the lesson, but it was an effective lesson and for a few bucks i started to buy surge protectors whenever they were on sale. Belkin is a really great…

Removed Immediately

Edit: After Belkin support contacted me in the comments section here on Revain, I contacted them and they sent a replacement. Now they sent me a 6 foot even though I bought a 10 foot. Beyond that, after the original support who was great to work with sent it to tech support, I heard nothing for 3 months until one day I received an RMA delivery notification. It would be nice to get some kind of message. I will use the 6' but I need to use it elsewhere as it is not long enough to replace the old…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Expensive

Pretty good considering the price

Mainly used as an extension cord, not a surge protector. If you're thinking of getting this as a surge protector for heavy, power-hungry equipment, I'd recommend spending a little more and getting something else. I like the expansion form factor, but it feels like it could be done better. Although it has 6 sockets I can't use all of them as their layout leaves very little space to plug an adapter between two 3 pin adapters. If you have something with a large adapter, such as a MacBook charger…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than others
