Don't take less than 2TB

WD is the way to go, especially if they don't put junk on their external hard drives, and I'm happy to say that's not crap. This unit requires no power other than a USB connection and in my experience it doesn't give up after a year like most Seagate drives I've worked with. You can't get less than 2TB these days. The price difference between 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB is extremely negligible (50 for 1TB, 60 for 1.5, 70 for 2TB). That's $20 more for doubling the capacity. And by the time you buy thisโ€ฆ

Pros: It's possible to encrypt the drive with a password - that's the main reason I chose this drive. This is important in case you're traveling and the drive is lost, stolen, or accidentally left somewhere where your sensitive files are safe. The encryption program is simple and works very well - you can add/remove/change the password at any time without affecting the files on the drive and automatically unlock the drive on certain computers. Fairly good data transfer speed via USB 3.0 is notโ€ฆ

This is an amazing product. I am also a MAC user.

This is an amazing product. I'm both a MAC user and a PC and it was easy for me to convert it to a format available for both MAC and PC. Western had simple instructions on how to find, access, and subscribe on their support site. I'm not a programmer or an IT guru, so I might even be able to do it in no time. Once this was done I was able to transfer all my data and files to the hard drive and free up the necessary hard drive space. It's light, portable and fast. Now I can access data betweenโ€ฆ

Unreliable. connection problems. Choose WD Elements instead.

Terrible. Only lasted a few months with no problems. After putting 2-3 computer backups on it, I got connection problems. The problems have worsened in recent months. Now I get error messages like "Not available", "Device not ready", "Target not recognized as existing" etc. Now I can't even transfer files to it. Also, it doesn't disconnect from my computer most of the time. So I have to turn off the computer after each use to turn it off safely. I've used it on both Windows7 and Windows10. Iโ€ฆ

Lock your stuff in WAREHOUSE

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about this. Over the years, I've always upgraded my trusty old laptop by replacing storage, converting the rotary disk to SSDs, etc. So when I thought of backup storage due to the recent spate of ransomware attacks, my first instinct was to go into a portable device to invest in SSD, but they are still a bit overpriced in terms of price per gigabyte. So I looked (with some reluctance) at the spinning cymbals. I'm glad I did. I got this WD Passport (2TB) for

Excellent value for money Portable hard drive

Great hard drive. Acceptable price for 2TB. I have 3 WD portable drives. They all work well and a few have lasted several years. The difference between this and Ultra lies in the backup software. I do not need that. I needed a good external drive for PS4 and this one works well. But you need to reformat it for FAT or exFAT. PS4 does not recognize NTFS file system. These portable devices are great. I prefer them over traditional external hard drives. No need for an external power supply. It gets
