Don't risk it

He was too loose to take that thing off. This infuriated my husband and he started cleaning the element and tool. We got a different, different brand from Lowe's and it worked right away. I also received "universal" replacement elements of the same brand. The threads didn't match, so they wouldn't screw in. When I sent the tool and parts back, they charged me $7 for return shipping. Don't worry about that. It's not worth the trouble.

  • That's amazing

  • Mostly ok but...

Complete waste of money/time!

This outlet never quite fitted the Camco heater it was designed to work with. When I applied torque to it, the element would not disengage, but the stamped metal bushing would expand (back to round) causing it to slip completely and causing injury to the joints! it only cost $7, not sure if it's worth the time to return it! Do yourself a favor and buy a real socket that can be used with a switch or ratchet and is not a cheap POS. like this!

Will not go to RV water heaters

I agree with most of the other reviews. The tool is so short that you can't get a large enough diameter screwdriver with a long enough screwdriver to work in recessed van applications, at least for the Suburban. There's no room to turn the wrench without hitting the water heater part or your knuckles because it's not deep enough. The wrench is also slightly larger than the nut on the item so it will move and fall off easily. I couldn't remove my old item to install the new one.

  • I will not say anything

Doesn't work well for water heaters and parts

Due to a few things, this doesn't work. The length should be a little longer, it hardly protrudes beyond the edge of the water heater body when standing on the heating element, making the lever very difficult to use. Then the stamped steel doesn't really fit and is too loose. So when you finally get a decent angle to put some kind of leverage on it, the thing still slides off. The element does not pull out easily. Very frustrating. I ended up using a 1 1/2" socket with an extension and break…

Better Than Socket

This was perfect for removing a faulty heating element on my water heater. It's better than a socket in my opinion as it has a flat surface to grip the thin hex head of the heating element (makes 100% contact with the surface). I will say that I initially had trouble unscrewing the heating element, but that was because a hard crust had built up in the tank even over the heating element. As soon as he started spinning, he came right away. The holes in the tool that you put the screwdriver…

Unlucky Camper Best in Water Heater and Parts Category

The shaft itself (with two holes on one end) was too short for my wheeled water heater and consequently the key didn't protrude far enough out of the heater compartment to slide the pole through. like a shaft on a screwdriver. This is important as you need to be able to apply enough force on the rod going through the key shaft to dislodge the water heater electroblock and in my case the side panel of my RV got in the way. An inch longer on the shank of the wrench would have done the trick…

Rubbish for my use

I used to use these stamped steel kits to get shower valves out and what not, so figured it would work to remove my stuck RV water heater element from an onsite water heater. It might have worked if it hadn't gotten stuck. MAY BE. The overall length is about 5 inches, which puts the hole where you insert the screwdriver right on the edge of the gap (or read: not enough gap). This makes turning very difficult. , and flat, onto the nut of the element while twisting with difficulty and holding the

Very troublesome tool - water heater and parts

First of all, wear gloves so you don't rip your hands on the sharp sheet metal like I did. A few problems. First, the key isn't very tight against the element - there are some knocks. Second, as soon as you press the key and try to turn it, it will bounce off the element. This is the part where you cut your hands. This is partly because of the loose fit and partly because the key needs to be a few inches longer to give your hands some clearance. The screwdriver hole is quite small and you won't
