It's not 2-7/8 " (maximum 2-1/4 ")

The listing is intentionally misleading as it lists a 2-7/8" grip. According to the packaging and specs According to the manufacturer, this is not a 2-7/8" hole. Actual clamp size is about 2-1/4". It barely fits a 2" flush tank valve nut.

An indispensable thing for the master!

This is the best tool to have in your pocket. It's perfect for small tight spaces where you really need to reach out. I'm a home remodeler and it makes my life so much easier. I have 3 pairs of these: one at work, one in a tool pouch I keep in the car and another set that fits perfectly in the molle of my bag for everyday use with a few other items.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Fits

uhhh It would be possible to buy a master

It was an old canal lock and served 20 years. This new one is stuck despite applying engine oil. Processing is defective, small burrs remain on the adjustment part. The basic version of Revain is just as bad. I ended up buying a higher class company. I'd leave the Amazon basics as the striking tool, but anything that involves tricky corners or spaces, I strive for quality.

GL pliers don't pinch

I bought these to see what they are. ). I am very impressed with these GL10s, they are very strong tongs. What I didn't know is that they don't pinch if you slip off, just like a Knipex. They may not open as wide as a Knipex but how big should you even take with the 10" pliers. It took 24 days for this GL10 to get delivered to me here in Ireland. I will be buying more

Pros
  • Lasting test results
Cons
  • No instructions

not the biggest fan of

I got these to try as I really like channel blocking tools but I already have Knipex Cobras. I think this tool had a very high bar and it didn't meet it. used probably 22 times after some use (not daily), the teeth in the middle are really chipped and worn out so it doesn't really grip stubborn screws. Second, it uses a design where you open and slide the pliers to open and close. I'd rather see a lock like a Knipex as it makes more sense for a barbed and grooved pliers like these.

Small but very useful

I have two small tool bags that I carry on each hip with an inexpensive strap. You only have the bare essentials, including a couple of gauges, a non-contact circuit tester, a 13-in-1 screwdriver, Phillips and flathead screwdrivers, a small LED flash, several markers, etc. What I was missing was a small flexible pair of pliers. Their tips work like regular pliers and the notch works like a wrench for small items like toilet/sink supply lines. They are used almost as often as my pencils and tape

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Made in the USA but not updated

After using it for a full week I experienced several instances of disappointment. The adjustment mechanism feels "clunky" and is very limited in range compared to my gifted Knipex Cobras of the same size. Their necks didn't align with the handles as much as the other models, making it nearly impossible to get to the locking nuts on the back of the square boxes. I'm sure they fit the sides of the boxes, but it was just another loss of experience. This is a step in the right direction as herโ€ฆ

Upgrade Original

I consider this an "upgrade" of the original channel lock pliers as it grips tighter with less effort and is less prone to slipping. However, they have a different jaw angle, which means you need more headroom on the side to use them. If you like the original channellocks, you'll love them just as much, if not more. The quality feels premium, the grips don't feel flimsy and they hardly wear out over time. The old pivot bolt has been replaced with a rivet that shouldn't come loose on its ownโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Requires socket

I replaced my old pliers with Knipex or Channellock. (right now everything is either red or blue) Channellock is made in the USA and is a good brand. I really like the quality of their instruments. Knipex is slightly more expensive and is made in Germany. Knipex has more positions to choose from and this is possibly the biggest benefit of using them. I ended up buying these and the Knipex version of these 10 inch pliers. You can't go wrong with either one. They are both excellent choices. Theโ€ฆ
