The hole appeared in less than a month

I had a bundle of woolen and patched socks. They are warm and toasty but in less than a month a 1/2 hole has formed in the heel of the left foot. They were washed after each wear, worn with well-fitting shoes, and only worn twice outside the home. There's no excuse for such a big hole so quickly when they're so expensive.

Great Socks: Camping & Hiking

So nice to find these socks at Revain. I have been wearing them in winter for many years as they are thick, comfortable and keep my feet warm. Now they are hard to find so I will be ordering more soon. A pair won't be enough when it's snowing and the boots are going to be worn for months. Well stitched and the bodice doesn't fit which is a real plus for me and I highly recommend.

Pros
  • Easy to read panel
Cons
  • Some complications

Thick and warm excellent slippers

As mentioned, order a size or two up. I wear men's shoes in size 9.5 or 10 and ordered socks in size XL, which fit well after washing. I wear them over gym socks around the house to keep my feet warm in the winter. For this purpose I like the XL size and crew length. If I want to wear them separately with boots I would order size L.

  • Very good price

Good winter socks! Outdoor

As another reviewer noted, these socks are not as green as the product image shows. They are more brown/light brown. I will probably order more, they are neutral enough to go with many casual outfits. They are thicker than expected but perfect for winter. At first I thought they would be very tight, especially around the ankle, but they loosened up nicely and became very comfortable. I can't say anything about the durability since I've only owned them for a short time, but at first glance they…

nowhere near the old REI Ragg wool socks

I sent them back because of a seam on my toes. Turn them inside out (first and third photos) and you'll be alarmed, but moderately comfortable. Wearing them "facing out" (second photo) looks better, but can cause blisters. The brand new yarn is loosely woven and the light shines through two layers of socks (slightly stretched to show it better in the last photo, but some light shines through with no stretch). The heel wears out quickly and will never "cushion". Wigwam El Pine socks seem like…

Great Warm Socks best in Outdoor Recreation

I recently moved to Connecticut from Fort Lauderdale and as you can imagine my winter wardrobe was almost empty. I cautiously ordered a pair of these socks, remembering that wool socks were an uncomfortable necessity in my college days. I've worn and washed these socks 3 or 4 times and they are actually warm and very comfortable. I liked them so much that I ordered 3 more pairs. I like the color and it's not much different from the color on the website. Another person wrote that he felt cramped

better than you think, just not in the dryer!

I've been wearing them every day for twenty years because I have a problem with cotton socks that cause mycosis. Wool socks are breathable and do not cause this problem. I also found that, for me at least, they are breathable and don't pick up foot odor when worn for a few days between washes, reducing wear and tear. Speaking of washing, several other reviews I've read complained about shrinkage in the wash. Well... yes, they're made of wool! They can be machine washed with work clothes…

The top runs small, the color is not as expected.

This is a wool sock that is durable and definitely warm to the touch. However, the top band of the sock is quite tight, even after a few wears. I'm a woman who ordered plus size men's socks because I have longer legs, but you'd think men's socks are even roomier at the top; it's not like this. Also, I ordered brown tweed and these socks are definitely medium grey, even a touch of brown or tan. tingly feeling for her. As someone who has worn wool socks for over 20 years, I know this is due to…
