works great with USB port cards

I ordered this to add USB 3.0 functionality to my old HP PC. I didn't realize it needed a SATA power cable and my HP Elite uses fancy power cables that I had to find on eBay. My computer uses a short metal bracket and I was happy to see that this product comes with both a tall and short bracket that can be easily replaced with two Phillips screws. Good product!

Pros
  • Positive only
Cons
  • Some difficulties

The card installed fine but the drivers on the hard drive didn't work at all with my USB device (AV.io 4K capture). Removing and reverting to the default Microsoft drivers partially resolved the issue, and I could see that the device was running with the bandwidth I needed to capture 4K, unlike my other USB 3.0 ports, but sadly it seems the card not being compatible with the audio part of my recording device. I found a very complicated workaround to solve this problem, but it's more work than…

Great USB 3.0 addition to your build

Seems to be working fine even though it was only installed a few minutes ago! I almost didn't order this based on Paul's 1 star review because I have the same motherboard as his and was worried I would suffer the same fate. Not so. I will say this: the mini disk that came with the card did not install the driver properly. So I searched the Syba site for a driver and Windows finally gave me a green tick (I'm also using Windows 7 x64). I plugged in the 3.0 extension and then the 3.0 flash drive…

Win 8 PRO + ASUS P8Z77V Premium

This little gem of an adapter card worked flawlessly right out of the box. The drivers on the included CD were surprisingly more up to date than those posted on the SYBA website - many months in advance. I installed an adapter which now gives me 2 USB 3 ports (one on my ASUS P8Z77V Premium MOBO and the other on this card). I connected the ATECH Pro 37U USB 3 media reader to this adapter card using a 19-pin cable. I checked Station Drivers to make sure I have the latest drivers installed and…

Suitable for adding more USB 3.0 ports

Windows 7 requires a driver CD to install, Windows 10 has built-in drivers so no CD is required. Very good for powering two additional USB 3.0 ports on the front. I couldn't boot the USB stick from this card, I had to use the motherboard ports as I believe drivers need to be loaded to allow access to the added ports. Otherwise no problem. Fast transmission, much faster than USB 2.0. Used in an HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF, for which I had to order a power adapter cable; This card uses a Molex…

An excellent card for computer components

I was a bit worried when I bought it because of the negative reviews on this and other websites. But it turns out to be a great little card. I need this for its internal USB 3.0 connector block as I need two 3.0 headers and my motherboard only has one. I'm running Windows 8.1 x64 on an Asus Maximus VI Formula motherboard. I plugged in the card and turned on the computer and the card was immediately recognized and the drivers loaded. I didn't have to download drivers anywhere. I didn't have to…

Does what it's supposed to, but with a few problems

The card fits easily into a PCI-E slot. But there are no card drivers in the OS, and the CD drivers that come with it don't work (at least for Windows 7). Drivers can be found on the manufacturer's website. The USB 3.0 slots can be accessed in two ways: directly on the card and/or by connecting a 19-pin cable (e.g. to the USB ports on the front of the case). The USB ports on the card itself work perfectly. The 19-pin connector is not very tight and the cable slips off easily.

Didn't work for me for computer components

I decided to install Syba SD-PEX20122 2 USB 3.0 ports with 19 pin PCI-E x1 card in my Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H -B3 (rev. 1.0 ) for two reasons: 1. It's one of the few PCI-E USB 3.0 expansion cards that has a connector that I can use to connect to the front USB ports. Most other cards have a USB port on the card itself, which I find useless as the connector itself supports 2 ports instead of 1.2. It is based on a VIA USB 3.0 host controller which should be more reliable than NEC/Renesas on a…

The old chipset isn't worth it

Ordered SD-PEX20158 for my Windows 10 pcs. I've encountered USB throughput issues on several PS3 eye and kinect v2 webcams. This card will not work with Kinect v2 but will work with PS3 Dual Eyes. However, my experience with the card is limited. The card does not wake up properly and each USB device has to be reconnected every time you go to sleep/hibernate or turn off the computer. This was annoying, so I rearranged my USB devices and used a card with some USB hubs instead. Everything was fine

Pros
  • Fits a lot
Cons
  • Some small things
