I use them with a windshield cutter (which has a long thin handle to cut from the inside) and that's the only way I can do it. It's easy to hold the windshield and won't damage the dashboard. I also had to wrap the 5th wheel in 2" foam sheets and didn't have a circular saw handy. It also sped up that job.

I bought these to fit a regular utility knife in because I needed a longer blade for a project. They are designed for a specific grip and don't have the same knurl size as many regular utility knives. However, they matched a very cheap utility knife handle I had lying around. You can tell whether it fits by the indentations on the handle. If they're U-shaped they won't fit, but if they look more like a small metal L stamped out of the blade body and bent up (not a U molded into the blade body)…
