quality control? - Tools and equipment

The die blocks on the pipe must be fully closed before the nut is screwed on. I couldn't even close them with a heavy c-clip on the original Ford 3/16 inch pipe. This threaded hole on the die blocks is not narrow enough to fit the nut. This works for Nicopp tubes. because it is much softer, but reduces the outside diameter of the tube by several thousand. Both hose types measure exactly 0.187 inches. Also, the flare screw was deformed, too small and loose, but the nut thread size was correctโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Trial period 1 year
Cons
  • Minor repairable

Avoid or use with caution

Sorry for the contradiction. I couldn't get my jaws together on the smallest tube. I didn't notice and when I screwed the big nut onto the die it ended up stripping the threads on the die. I even tried hitting the die cams with a hammer, but I couldn't get them together enough to unthread the cap nut all the way. Also, the part that fits into the brake pipe was bent when tightened because it fell off to the side when tightened. If you can't hold the pipe upright, you have to be very carefulโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not everything fits

Better than paying nothing or a lot more

I can't bring myself to give this tool four stars, but three isn't enough. It's more like three and a half stars. This thing is cumbersome to use, especially for the first few flashes. After two flashes I figured out how to make decent ones but they never come out 100%. I run with a 3/16" brake pipe. The sealing surface was too small for the EZ Bend. I followed the instructions using the insert flange thickness as a guide for the depth of the pipe boss. For steel pipe, that depth is probablyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Works very well with brake flare tools

The fuel pump was replaced and I dropped the fuel tank which is right next to the brake line. Decided to replace it too. I bought a stainless steel brake line so I wouldn't have to replace it again, but it's harder to flare than a standard steel line, or there's a nickel-copper line I'll try next. I had a little problem with the SS line trying to slide into the block. I filed the mating sides of the blocks a bit to get them a bit tighter, but I've found that if you take fine sandpaper and twist

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Unusable features

High-quality instrument forms perfect double flares when used correctly

High-quality instrument in a compact case. I have a dual stick and clamp type torch tool and aside from always being a little clunky and awkward to use, it often didn't form proper torches. This built-in tool creates the perfect highlight every time, but you have to use it properly. A big part of getting a good result with any dual flare is also preparing the end of the pipe. Cut the end of the pipe square, which is best done with a pipe cutter. The inside diameter needs to be ground properlyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Damaged
