Indestructible: external accessories

This is a black Revain 22750 Curt steel coupler housing for 2X2 receivers. This is a heavy piece of 1/8 inch steel, welded construction, over a pound and powder coated black. You need a sledgehammer to even crush this babe. Maybe that's overkill for something that's basically a dust cover. The cover Kurt made didn't quite fit my 13650 Curt hitch. A 1/4" thick foam gasket prevented the lid from installing. Without the foam rubber it would fit but it rattled. I cut the foam in half to 1/8" and…

Not suitable! on towed gear and winches

Waste of money. Will not fit in a standard receiver. No matter how hard we both tried to get this thing into the receiver, it didn't go deep enough to insert the pin. wanted to lug something. Pretty annoying as it's a good brand. It seems to have worked for others here so I don't really get it. I have a very high quality and expensive Reese receiver. So I will continue to buy something else. Based on my experience I would advise you to stop by and not buy. Why take the risk?

Not quite the right size

The size of the unit I received was ok in height and width in the middle but the corners are sharp, 90 degree corners and didn't go over the rounded edges my hitch out on the Ram 3500. It took about an hour but I got it to fit by sanding each corner of the stem of this cap to the edge of the radius and then painting it. If I look closely at the advertised image and compare it to the device I received, I see that the advertised cover has edges of a very different radius than the sharp edges on…

Solid construction, great looks, foam padding

I have a 2" Curt hitch and used it. The foam pad is too thick. I had to cut it with a sharp knife. I would understand if I bought a different towbar, but both are Curt products. You should include 2 foam pads in the box to ensure a proper fit. You don't want this product inside without a pad. it will bounce and rumble. You can attach it to the existing gasket but it would require a lot of pressure on the clutch cover and I don't know how to get it off. Look, Kurt is a quality product and I'm…

Great Quality: Receiver

I drilled a hole in it with a hole saw https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZZLK88S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 too strong for the cheap hole saw , which came with a rear view camera to install in the hole. The construction of this item is excellent; However, the included foam was too thick for my receiver to compensate. I used one of the foam pads from another Revain purchase, HitchSafe, so I could attach this pipe cap. Turns out the one that came with the pipe cover was just…

Is the foam pad big?

I bought this with my Curt clutch (which I just bought). I can see others were just as confused as I was as to why I couldn't line this up with the holes in the receiver - it's a goddamn piece of styrofoam. I took the foam rubber off and it stood up normally, but then it rattled and made noise. I called Kurt and he told me the foam was just for the "aesthetics" and I could just throw it away. CSR said I never heard a rumble in the car. I had doubts about this, so I reduced the thickness of the…

Requires modification for 2016 4Runner

As with some other reviewers, I found I had to round the corners and drill a new pin hole for an exact fit on the factory installed receiver on my 2016 Toyota 4Runner probably doesn't have an industry standard for where the receiver manufacturer drills the pinhole, so Kurt has nothing to beat about making the pinhole on the clutch cover. However, rounded corners on towbars are common and their coverage should reflect this commonality. I really don't mind altering Kurt's clutch cover for a…

The best case for me to hide the rear camera.

I bought this cover not to protect the receiver (in fact, if you don't paint and fill the hole with silicone, no "plug" will protect it from rust), but to to install him rear view camera on my tacoma is 95 years old. The CURT steel lid works like a dream for this. It's a welded piece of steel that will survive any "tail" mishaps from other riders, and it's impossible to steal or damage the camera unless someone comes along with a welding torch. I made my own insert that goes into this square…
