Leave It To A Pro

If you know how to work with vehicles and know a little about working with electrical components you can probably get by, but I'm not one of them. Secondly, it is obvious that the ground wire was not installed correctly, and after the fuse blew, the device began to smoke. I attached the wire to the frame as instructed, but I probably had to make sure it was metal to metal where the ground wire touched. After all the work, it was frustrating to have everything plugged in only to literally turnโ€ฆ

I finally got up and installed this tow strap and it was easy. I installed this on a 2015 Rav4 and it was very easy. I found the wire that other reviewers complained about being too short to go from side to side to be more than long enough. This harness is designed to be installed on the driver's side of the vehicle behind the interior panel first, then going through a bit to snap onto the passenger side lines for the taillights. I was very happy with how easy it was and didn't have to spliceโ€ฆ

Definitely enough wire to connect it to the battery, connection tips below.

I was concerned about the feedback that the battery connector cable was too short. Luckily that's not the case, at least not on my 2016 Rav4 LE. Although the wiring to the battery is by far the trickiest part. Here are my tips: 1. Drill a hole in one of the rubber plugs on the rear left side of the trunk to get out. This keeps the seal tight and utilizes the existing hole.2. Pull the cable through the wheel arch. Unscrew about 5 plastic screws, fold back the felt, and then route the cable under

  • Long delivery time

Not bad in general, took about 1 hour. I was a bit nervous about ripping panels on my new Rav4, but the videos I found online (here and elsewhere) were pretty accurate and very helpful. On my 2018 adventure the suspension didn't end with the control box being as low as shown in the videos I found so I used double sided tape to tape the inside of the empty space under the light - hopefully it stays this in place and doesn't start to rattle. And the green cable to the passenger side was a bitโ€ฆ

What has changed? It used to be easier.

Gone are the days when you just remove the taillight housing, slip it between the seat belts and you're done. Maybe that changed with Toyota or with recent changes in car wiring? I've had a bit of a plug and play issue in the past and didn't have to run a wire to the battery for power or drill a ground wire to the case - this is new to me. But all other brands seem to do the same thing (they all look the same but under a different name). So the ease of installation isn't as 5-star as manyโ€ฆ

Lights up and works

I don't know what stretch or transparency is. There is some difficulty in installing this strap. This is a very good wiring harness that connects easily to the car's wiring. Works fine, everything connects without problems. There are many product installation videos on YouTube. I highly recommend you check out one of these, you'll save yourself some trouble. If you have mechanical skills you shouldn't have a problem. This is also a top product. Just wanted to add that this wiring harness andโ€ฆ

I bought this to use in my 2018 RAV4 Hybrid. I followed the video from etrailer.com. I would say most of the instructions there were pretty good. In general, you should just take your time and not force anything. I bought several plastic removal tools and it helped avoid scratches or damage. The biggest problem was that the wires from the driver's side wiring harness weren't long enough. I even called my local store to get a part number and they sell an identical kit. Installation is not for the novice

Reviews on this product are mixed, particularly around the length of the harness at the back. I've worked with cars since I could walk and have run a business for years, so I consider myself very mechanical. Here is my experience. Initially, this work took about 4 hours. In order to install this and access the car's tail light wiring harnesses, most of the cargo compartment trim needs to come out. If you are an amateur, I do not recommend doing this. You're going to get frustrated and probablyโ€ฆ
