🔧 Danco (80004) Moen Single Replacement Handle - Metal, 1-Pack Review

Who would have thought that using a plastic part for a knob would be a good idea? The Moen part and the spare part are made of plastic and can break repeatedly. This kit contains a metal part that is the same size as the Moen plastic part. You can also use your old Moen pen. It would be better if they only sell an adapter for a metal handle.

I would give 12 stars if I could because I am so tired of replacing cheap Moen plastic grips. I went through 3 of these in 2 weeks and they broke either during installation or after one use. I just finished installing so I can't say how long it will take. But it's all metal, so I already know it should last longer than the others. It was very easy to install. I'm a little crooked, but I probably didn't do it right. Anyway, I'm happy! Great value for money.

Metal construction is reliable, durable and performs great. Coincidentally I replaced the Moen 1225 cartridge at the same time and lubricated the cartridge well so the controls were silky smooth so the heavy bottom grip slowly returned to the 6 o'clock (neutral) position and rendered it useless (unless you need to hot water). I had to buy the original plastic pen. Great if you break the handles because the cartridge is old and unwieldy. Not so with a new well lubricated 1225 cartridge.

This is a sturdy shower grip that can be fitted in less than ten minutes. I paid $17.81 which is good value compared to the quality of the item (100% metal - no plastic). The kit included a handle, two adapters, two screws, a tool and instructions. The tool was too short to fit one of the special screws, adding about two minutes to the installation time, but I still installed it in less than ten minutes. I really liked this product after installing it in my bathroom. So much so that I ordered another one for my son's bathroom. And immediately replaced the original plastic handle. I was very satisfied until after a couple of weeks the buttons started to "jiggle" as another reviewer mentioned. I didn't want to give it up and figured the 1/2" center screw wasn't long enough. I have two issues with this pen, but they don't break the deal. The goal was to replace the boring standard Moen pen with something easier on the eye and it works well. For those of you with a tighter twist Moen tub faucet that gets "sloppy" over time until it breaks completely, this is the find, which I had hoped to burst at some point! After replacing the plastic handle on the Moen lights in my house at least 4 or 5 times I've decided enough is enough! The standard handles are made of plastic, as you no doubt know when you look at this Danco product. And the plastic sleeve of a standard plastic grip is so poorly constructed and of such poor quality that it will snap in no time.
