Good product that can always be improved.

It's a good product n no regrets on buying it. But I think it still can be designed alil better. Velcro needs to over lap the gap alil more. As the bar tends to sink into the gap n then u start feeling the bar. Could be fixed with more velcro to close the gap alil more around the bar.N maybe this is user error. But never squat shirtless. Sweat makes it slippery n then the struggle of keeping the bar safely on ur neck begins. But like I said I'll take the blame for this one.

Pros
  • Sturdy and easy to clean
Cons
  • The pad may become deformed, leading to an uneven lifting experience

Perfect for using with barbell on shoulders as well as hips.

I've used this a few weeks now and love it so far. The public ones at my gym are all gross, worn, and crappy. So I needed my own BADLY. I looked at a TON of other options, but most seemed to be bulky and have a shape I just don't like. This uniform-shaped (no rut for your neck like other versions) pad works perfect for not only when it's on my shoulders, but also on my hips for hip thrusts or glute bridges. The big thick ones with the neck rut are a pain for when using on my hips. They roll…

Pros
  • Nicely padded, easy to fit on the bar. Looks like it's sturdy enough to last.
Cons
  • May slip or slide during use, leading to potential injury

Excellent Customer Service by Dark Iron Fitness

Dark Iron Fitness forwarded the squat pad in a timely manner, and it arrived well-packaged. Also, a principal in the organization forwarded at least two e-mail messages, in advance of and following delivery of the item, wherein he/she thanked me for the purchase, provided background on the company, and pledged his/her support in case anything untoward happened to the shipment or i was dissatisfied with the product. Although I have only used the product once, it fit the olympic bar well and…

Pros
  • Great neck support for doing sit-ups
Cons
  • Material is not waterproof and may absorb sweat or moisture, leading to unpleasant odors

Nice but NOT all models are 17“

I got the "All-black” model, which is what you see in all of the product images, except the first one. It’s black, leather, and has a small Dark Iron logo over the VelcroIt looks and feels great, and def provides comfort HOWEVER IT IS NOT 17” LONG, as the title says.I’ve now realized that this model, as well as maybe the "Dark Iron” model with the big logo are both only 14-15” long. The 17” in the title refers to the other types, such as the "shut up and squat”, so KEEP THIS IN MINDThe way to…

Pros
  • WON'T ABSORB MOISTURE: Durable synthetic leather material won't absorb perspiration. Moisture remains on the surface and can be easily wiped away. Won't accumulate odors over time
Cons
  • May not fit well on all sizes and shapes of bodies

Excellent product at excellent price

This pad is fantastic. Some other reviews have commented on it sliding, which I could see happening, as the interior lining is the same slick durable material as the exterior. But the back squat is a straight up and down movement. So if it’s sliding, then either you are moving side to side before the lift, or you’re lifting like the huntchback of notre dame . I really don’t know how or why that sliding an issue to some people. The Velcro attachment seam is good, and the placement of it allows…

Pros
  • It makes squats enjoyable
Cons
  • The pad may be difficult to clean or maintain

Good value: my feedback

I went with plain as it is for a basement gym and I am not a flashy guy. It was about the perfect length for me. I can leave it on the bar and still do deadlifts with my normal grip. It went on easily and I was able to cover up all the Velcro so there wasn't a rough edge exposed. It was a little firmer than I expected, but I suspect it will break in some. This should also make it last longer, and it is certainly softer than the bar which was the idea.Overall it was cheaper than a lot of…

Pros
  • Great barbell pad been using it for about a month and a half now.
Cons
  • Expensive compared to other barbell pads on the market

Excellent product! in my review

I already had a barbell pad i purchased from another major brand competitor. The biggest issue with it was that it was a slip on pad that left a gap open. During exercises it tended to roll and would pop off of the barbell placing the bar on your shoulders with no padding. The Dark Iron barnell pad will not come off during use. It has a sturdy Velcro strap along the entire length of the pad. It fits tightly around the olympic bar and has plenty of padding for a comfortable lift (about an inch…

Pros
  • Ideal for use with a variety of strength training equipment
Cons
  • The pad may have an unpleasant smell

Great, top-notch commercial quality product!

I recently purchased this barbell pad in order to add the hip thrust to my exercise program. I wanted a commercial quality product that would last for years to come and the Dark Iron Fitness product fits that bill. It is top notch quality and offers a lifetime warranty. When properly fastened to my Olympic Bar it will not slide or freely rotate, but securely remain in place, despite the fact that my Olympic Bar does not have a center knurl. It offers firm, yet comfortable padding.I will work…

Pros
  • Helps to reduce pressure points and discomfort during exercises
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people who prefer a minimalist approach to lifting

Comfortable, sturdy, and awesome customer service!

Another great product from Dark Iron. Great construction and well crafted with the user in mind. Works easily and can wrap around any bar. Offers perfect comfort as a squat pad and as an leg pad for dead-lifting. Velcro holds strong, but can be easily undone. Wide enough for all shoulder types, but not so wide to be in the way of hand grips. This makes squatting a more comfortable exercise and the bar feels stable on my neck and shoulders. Good exterior and can easily be wiped down with a wet…

Pros
  • Sports & Outdoors
Cons
  • May limit the amount of weight that can be lifted comfortably

Perfect on the Smith Machine Bar! Love it!

Love having my very own neck pad instead of having to hunt for one around the gym which may be broken, dirty, smelly, etc. Nicely padded.no more bruised C7 vertebrae after Smith machine squats. Oh yeah.fits PERFECTLY on Smith machine bar. Haven't tried it on anything else yet, but I feel confident it will be fine. I also like to pad a bar bell for laying across my hips and doing hip thrusts; I'm sure this pad will work well for that too. Dark Iron's customer service and post purchase follow-up…

Pros
  • Easy to use and fits securely onto any standard barbell
Cons
  • May not be effective in preventing barbell marks or bruises

A well-made product that won't break the bank

This is my 3rd product from the company (although I haven't put it to use yet) but I can tell it is very well made compare to my other barbell pad. My first barbell pad is made of thick soft styrofoam but it is already wearing and tearing under a year of use. While the quality of this barbell pad seems very sturdy and since the outer cover is made of material that doesn't absorbs moisture you can easily wipe down the product with some disinfectant wipes to clean it ease. As I mention before…

Pros
  • Great addition to any home gym or fitness studio
Cons
  • Over time, the pad may lose its cushioning effectiveness

Excellent material, 👌🏾

Excellent material, avoid sweat 👌🏾Muy comodo, Exclente material evita que se le pegue el sudor y malos olores! May cause the barbell to roll during exercises.

  • Enhances your overall lifting performance and technique
Cons
  • May cause the barbell to roll during exercises

Definitely worth the price

I already have Dark Iron Weight lifting Belt and it was one of the best gym gear I bought. Based on the quality of their products, I bought the Dark Iron Fitness Barbell Neck Pad. Price was very reasonable and I was looking for something decent to use at the gym since the ones at the gym are alway worn out or in use. This way now I have my personal neck pad that I can use while doing squats and other leg exercises. Well, I highly recommend this if you are looking for a great similar kind of…

Pros
  • Great value for money compared to other similar products on the market
Cons
  • May limit the amount of weight that can be added to the barbell

Need a barbell pad? GET THIS!

Finally got the chance to test out this barbell pad and have to say it is incredibly comfortable. Unlike many of the standard neck pads, this one is not made of cheap basic foam. The felt of this pad provides ample flexibility to adjust it however you want and remove much more easily from the bar after use. The other benefit of this pad not being foam is its longevity. Cheap foam typically dries out eventually or begins to split from repeatedly applying it to the bar.In terms of comfort, the…

Pros
  • WON'T FLATTEN OUT: Our design features top-grade, 3/4" dense foam to provide optimal support and comfort during your WOD or powerlifting training. Retains its shape; won't flatten easily.
Cons
  • The pad may be difficult to position correctly during exercises

over 145 lbs padding flattens out

Well made, sad to note after repeated use, I finally reached 145 lb hip thrusts and the padding totally flattened out, making the pad not very useful to prevent barbell from grinding into my pelvic bones.

Pros
  • Works great
Cons
  • The extra cushioning may cause the bar to shift or wobble while lifting

Top Notch Barbell Pad

This barbell pad is exactly what I was looking for. Working out at home now avoiding public gyms and the potential of being part of the global epidemic, I have limitations. Luckily I already had a solid foundation of equipment. But I did not have a barbell rack or power rack. So bench press & barbell squats have been difficult. With this pad I've been able to roll the barbell onto my chest when laying down on my bench to do presses. With squats I've had to do less weight that I can lift over my

Pros
  • Provides optimal weight distribution and balance during lifts
Cons
  • May irritate or compress nerves and blood vessels during use

It’s alright. good for me

It’s good when you position it correctly on the bar. El Velcro es medio light pero está bien! It does shift and doesn’t hold the bar tight enough.

Pros
  • El Velcro es medio light pero está bien
Cons
  • May not withstand long-term use or frequent heavy lifting

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Velcro issue - my new review

Good product but missing a wide enough Velcro too allow for tighter placement on the bar. Small band allows for foam to roll around and not stay in place. and creates a groove for bar to slip out of.

Pros
  • Fits securely and comfortably around any standard barbell, giving you peace of mind during exercises
Cons
  • May not be suitable for people who prefer a more rigid lifting surface

Revainrating 4 out of 5

So far, so good. best in my review

Purchased because my previous barbell pad started to break in half. I only use this for hip thrusts. So far, the pad has been thick enough to make it comfortable while working out. I do question its durability, tho. But knowing the product has lifetime warranty, I should be good. Currently hip thrusting 385lbs+ and the pad has no issues. I'm sure the leather casing helps with keeping the pad intact.

Pros
  • Helps you to achieve better posture and form during exercises
Cons
  • May make it difficult to maintain proper form during exercises

Good choice!: my feedback

This is definitely a good buy. It was my second try at one, the other was a foam that didn’t last long at all. This is well constructed and comfortable to use. Stays on the bar and does it’s job.

Pros
  • Stayed in place and is super comfortable. No main neck pain!
Cons
  • The pad may limit range of motion during certain exercises
