Nice inexpensive single wire replacement

Used this to replace a previous single wire alternator on my Kubota b6100 tractor which has a store made adapter. That works fine.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Hard to say

Wouldn't have lasted 600 km. in generators

Purchased in May 2019 to rebuild the nut and cylinder as part of a refurbishment project. I installed it on 7/2020, stopped working and didn't have 600 miles on it. Don't waste money.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • So far so good

Works great on IH 240!

Real single wire installation. I had to replace the pulley to fit my IH 240 tractor. I ran a cable from the alternator to the voltage sensor and then to the battery. Self-excitation is slightly above idle.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Without automation

Works great and puts out over 80A

I bought a 63A device. Received quickly, connected for verification. It was more than 80A! It doesn't take much to get him excited either. Most single-wire generators require a few turns to start generating electricity. It only gets excited at idle. Highly recommended. Thanks very much!

Pros
  • Handy thing
Cons
  • Good but not great

Confirm your belt size

Price was good, double pulleys. Well made and works well, true 1 wire and will not drain the battery when not in use. Remember that the pulley is for 3/8 belt and my tractor uses a 1/2 belt. This led to pulley slippage problems. I didn't see in the supplement that this is for 3/8 V belts. it fit pretty well in the '57 Fordson Major. I would buy again but watch the belt size.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Exchange available

Smokes after 20 minutes

I've had a few of these and this was the first bad one. It was added to a Street Rod built on a small Ford block. The wiring was correct. (It's hard to go wrong) The generator was noisy from the first start. I ran for 10 minutes to break in a new camera. Make sure the belt tension is correct. Started smoking ten minutes after next launch. Bought on October 19th and didn't run until February 20th so I'm out of the warranty window.

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • unreliable

Works great in My 1971 International Travelall

I don't normally write reviews but this generator deserves one. It fitted perfectly into my 392 V8 Travelall and installed with no problems. It's listed as 1 wire, but you can put a nut on the other threaded connector for grounding, then buy an AC Delco pigtail and remove the rubber plug on the generator, exposing the pigtail connections. Connect the pigtail's red connector to the F-line coming from the external voltage regulator and you're done. Yes, this alternator has an internal voltage…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Minor issues
