🚗 2003 Subaru Forester 2.5L Alternator - Compatible and Reliable Replacement for Auto and Light Truck Applications Review

The alternator failed on my 2005 Subaru Forester XS (non turbo) and when I took it to the shop to confirm it was the alternator (and not the battery) was, they confirmed it. I was planning on replacing it myself anyway, but they tried to sell me a remanufactured OEM alternator for over $700 (parts and labor). I said hell no, bought this guy, got a 3 year warranty and changed it myself in 20 minutes. It was in February. It's almost September now. It still bangs.

The bracket didn't fit my Subaru very well. Lots of "settlers" in fittings. If I just bolted it on and tightened everything up, it would actually install crookedly due to the extra clearance between the alternator and the bracket. This caused side loading of the bearings. The bearings hummed like a coffee grinder. Hardened washers were used to fill in the gaps and properly align the generator. Now it works fine. During assembly, pay particular attention to alignment, distances, etc.

Very easy to install. Postpone the exchange longer than you should. The pivot bolt is slightly looser than the original alternator, but works fine once tightened. Drives a little over a month - about 200 km without problems. No warning lights and the battery stays charged. Good price and no base fee so I still have the original alternator for local recovery if I need it. I've got about 245,000 miles on it now so I'm just seeing how long I can keep it going without breaking the bank.

Fits my 2004 FXT like a glove. Was a little worried about early reviews (16-17 reviews) but buying new from DB Electrical was great. This alternator cost nearly half what Autozone/Pep Boys were trying to charge and a few hundred less than what the Subaru thieves were asking.
