Precise Pet Microchip Scanner: ISO11784/ISO11785 RFID Reader for Pets - Dog/Cat/Pig Review

Nice little device, but the beep when you turn it on will put some cats off. Only reads new 15-digit numbers, not 9-digit Avid chips. The numbers are small and don't last long so after scanning I would put them under the lamp and take a picture of the number. I will then have a record of it so I can check it carefully and make sure I'm copying the number correctly when I register.

Unfortunately, this little device couldn't find my pet's chip (10-digit, standard chip). I tried repeatedly but it never worked. I returned this one, bought the next model from a competitor and after charging found my pet's chip on the first pass. It seems that after reading some other reviews you either get a scanner that works really well or in my case one that doesn't work at all. Very happy with this purchase! I'm paranoid if my cats chips were still intact/readable (can't feel any of my cats chips at all) so I bought this for easy checking at home. Immediately out of the box, I was able to turn on the device and scan their chips in a matter of seconds. They have 15-digit PetLink chips and the numbers appear on the screen quickly and accurately. Unfortunately, when authorities or individuals use this chip reader, pets are lost. If the reader cannot determine that the pet is microchipped, the search for their home is greatly reduced.
