I don't know what the negative reviews mean. Mine fit perfectly with the screws that came with it. The sliding mechanism works perfectly. I suspect the naysayers installed it incorrectly.

Approximately 10 pounds of pressure installed and applied, shaft bent and broken. DO NOT rely on security. it might work for a toddler but that's about it! Now I have holes in my door.

I bought 4 of these for our house. They are cool! Some of them are mounted vertically and others horizontally, they work fine in both directions. I need them for added security for the little ones as mine can open both the deadbolt and the door lock. When mounted on top, they are out of reach for small hands and give me security. They have been used on interior and exterior doors and work well on both.

Wastebasket. The screws that attach it to the door prevent the lever from moving left and right. Because of this, the lever becomes so tight that it becomes a burden to use. In addition, it is very weak and the screws are of extremely poor quality, which is why they are torn off at the first use. Finally, 2 years ago I happened to purchase the same item from Home Depot and noticed a significant difference in quality between Home Depot and Revain, with Revain not being up to date.

if you mark the spot with a pencil, pre-drill the holes with a 1/16" drill bit, don't use a drill bit to tighten the screws, and have 2 small chisels to match it was easy to install and looks nice they work just as well how to have both plates for inside or outside mounting of a frame if you don't pre drill the holes or use a bit, that's too big or try using a drill to tighten the screws you will increase your chances of screwing it in. It was great at first. Until summer comes and maybe because of the humidity?. They don't close. They seem to have moved just enough to prevent the lever from getting into the tab properly to close.
