They are great for the hot Florida weather. I bought these for my two dobermans and they didn't seem to mind putting them on. Her fur doesn't get wet either. I would say they are a bit heavy but my dogs are big enough to carry them and they cover them to the tail. Be sure to measure beforehand. I thought my pup was bigger due to size but I had to send him back.

The idea behind this vest is great! And it keeps the dog's body cool for a long time. It's ideal for younger, healthier dogs, but unfortunately feels too heavy after being submerged in water for older, ailing dogs that really need their bodies to keep cool. Alternatively, you can spray some water on the back of the vest (closer to the dog's body) and keep the surface dry.

I used this on my 30# Black Field Spaniel. I soaked it thoroughly on the skin first and then applied a soaked coat (soaked in fairly cold water). It was 105 degrees outside. She sat in the shade for 30-45 minutes and when I brought her to the performance and took her coat off, she wasn't even breathing. The only downside is that the coat gets a bit heavier when water weighs it down, which my dog didn't like (but I could probably wring it out more and she still doesn't like wearing stuff)

I bought the orange 18 inch jacket 6 months ago to use as a cool jacket as a raincoat. The fitting was great. My Bubi is 18 inches long from the base of the neck to the back.
