Leaves a very good finish.

I've only used it for a few minutes so far. I put it on my 6" grinder (NOT RECOMMENDED BECAUSE 6" GRINDERS TURN AT MAXIMUM STONE SPEED) and sanded down some of the welds and it made the surface perfectly flat leaving a very smooth finish.

Pros
  • Corundum silicon carbide grit for durability and high stock removal on the grinding wheel
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Very aggressive and durable grinding wheel

Fantastic grinding wheel. Ideal for welding and removing material from mild steel. Remains abrasive even as wheel material wears without glazing. I've sanded 1/4" mild steel with it with no problem. It's best to use a 7 amp (min) sander with this wheel. We finished the job when the wheel was worn down to the metal. It was a huge job with a lot of polishing I bought another one to have in my tool box.

Pros
  • Type 11 grinding wheel shaped for maximum coverage of the grinding surface
Cons
  • Negative impression

Tough and efficient

I used this sharpening stone to restore an anvil that was in pretty bad, if not bad, condition. I removed about 40,000 inches from most of the surface, taking my time and checking the level. It came out very straight and even, and after working with the serrated washer and belt sander it looked like I'd taken it to the machine shop to be sharpened. The conical shape of the grinder contributes significantly to the even material removal. As the dents, chunks, and rust began to fade, it became…

Pros
  • Proprietary compound for aggressive sharpening
Cons
  • Nothing
