Top quality card scrapers.

If you have purchased a genuine dfm card scraper, no recall is necessary. Buy them and you will be happy. Unless you bought them from dfm they are thicker and hold a sharper edge than most scrapers. I've found it's easy to pick up a burr on it and the burr stays throughout the project rather than being erased before you're done.

If only. The Best in Woodworking Drawings and Project Kits

They are not sharpened or polished. I'm not sure if you should expect them to be sharpened or polished or not and maybe for the price they're ok like that. They post videos on how to sharpen and polish them and it is by no means a difficult process but I was hoping they would be ready to come out of the box and instead spent 20 minutes preparing them before using them could. Other than that, it's great.

Easy to use after initial time investment

I've only used a square scraper so far, but it's easy to sharpen and after a little fine tuning it takes a .001 shave of red or white oak, the full length of what I revise. I used a planer to cut a locator out of the middle of a block of wood about half the thickness of the scraper so it would apply constant pressure along its length when flattening or polishing the sides.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Large and bulky

Essential item for power tool spares and accessories

Happy with this purchase. I was able to quickly put a good burger on it and use it within minutes of arriving. Although my knowledge and use of scrapers is limited, I am sure that even if I ever update them, they will remain available for my daily use. I was tempted to buy available polishers, but after doing some research I found I could roll a cutting edge with materials available at my shop and I used a hardened drill shank, FYI.

Very hard but high quality

The reviews here are accurate. They appear to be very well made and I am happy with them. But they are pretty tough. Much harder than the ones I've used before. This makes them much more difficult to use and my hands tire more quickly. The tutorial videos shown are misleading. Either this guy has very strong arms to bend it or he's using thinner metal. Be sure to buy a polishing tool. The one I have (not the same brand) works very well. I don't see how a screwdriver shank would work anywhere…

It's really awesome!

I never thought I would need card scrapers. Boy was I wrong. My last mess of gluing wood left three large sections of dried glue inside the plywood cabinet that needed cleaning. I thought they were just grinding, but I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did. The scraper gently and effectively scrapes off the adhesive. After I finished, the surface of the cabinet was smooth with no damage. These scrapers are thick and hold a sharp edge well. I will be ordering more of these for my future…

  • Easy to read control panel

  • boring packaging

An elegant tool for a more civilized age

I love the finish these cabinet scrapers give my projects. I'm a novice carpenter/joiner at best as I do it more like an amateur than a pro. Unfortunately, the surface of my flat scraper started to rust shortly after the first use. I'm sure it was a combination of my sweat and natural oils, but I don't think the scrapers came with any instructions for the car. However, slight surface oxidation hasn't affected the scrapers' performance, and I still get glass finishes on handrails, bookshelves…

This set was originally promised

My training in edge tools such as furniture scrapers and hand planes began under the guidance of a Swiss descendant. Firstly, these are extreme instruments. Second, there are different types of hand tools for very different purposes than furniture scrapers. Third, this type of scraper has a microscopically curved cutting edge. This is accomplished by 1) sharpening the edge at a 90 degree angle to the sides, 2) honing that edge with a fine grit grindstone, 3) preferably holding the scraper in a…
