still leaking.: engines and engine parts

leaking. Tried three different times. This cover could not be sealed. Got the original case from GM. I do not recommend this product.

Pros
  • handy thing
Cons
  • volume

Did the job well for engines and engine parts

What a pain in the back to install. The oil pan must be lowered for installation, otherwise oil will run out. It is designed to be installed prior to installing the oil pan.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Long delivery time

The main seal is leaking. Best in Caps

New oil pan gasket, new TC Dorman cap, new balancer, new pulley, new main gasket leaking. All that work should now fall apart. I had to buy Delco. I'm going to replace the main gasket with a Delco gasket.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Disappears

Poor Quality Molded Cover

This timing case cover is injection molded plastic. The timing case cover does not fit snugly at the top near the intake manifold. It was so bad I could see the rubber gasket wasn't even touching the surface of the block when the cover bolts were tightened. I had to use silicone sealant. I should have just reused the original GM cover.

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Protection

So far so good - control parts

Looks ok as a replacement. I had to trim the bottom hem completely so it could fit without dropping the oil pan. Had to replace a cap on my boat due to a leak and didn't want to pull the motor. No leaks the first time. The time will show. One problem I had was that once installed, I was able to slide the dipstick through the gasket on one side very easily. I removed the lid, added some Permatex and replaced it. So far there are no problems.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Only available in black

Perfect for my 2002 Chevy S10 4

Perfect for my 2002 Chevy S10 4.3 liter engine. However, be aware that installing one of these oil pans can be a daunting task unless you remove the oil pan and replace its gasket. There is a rib on the bottom of the lid that may need to be modified/removed. This applies to all of these caps, they are meant to be put on first before the pan is laid. It fits the factory cap perfectly and the leak at the base of the cap (very common on these Vortec engines) has now been fixed.

Pros
  • GOLS Certificate
Cons
  • Interval
