Great alternative to pumps

If you're having trouble with your fuel gauge and don't want to spend more than $400 on new pumps, these gauges are for you. The pumps are already easily accessible (under the rear seats) so it's not a waste of time if the pumps need to be changed on the go. EXACTLY fits OEM pumps, same fittings and mounting clips. If you do the job yourself, please recommend a pump disassembly tool, non-adjustable but with a curved edge (OTC 6599, universal by Lisle, not suitable for opening. Trust me) Economy

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Didn't work properly after installation.

I hesitated for a long time whether to buy these parts or original parts. Based on a few acceptable comments on this article, I bought and installed them, but they've stopped working intermittently since the day I installed them, so I can't trust them (as in the original edition, the indicator shows zero on even though the petrol is in the tank). now it's a sporadic problem, and before it was always read as zero). I will have to replace them with original parts after 5 hours of work and wasted…

Excellent replacement for sensors for a drunk fuel gauge!

Ordered these sensors for my 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe with the usual faulty fuel gauges [they really should recall these OEM parts]. Installed it last weekend. Installation is a little tricky for a beginner mechanic, but overall just take your time and learn about YouTube and you should be good to go. One thing I noticed with these gauges/floats is that immediately after installing the check engine light went out, however the fuel gauge only went up to 1/2 even after I filled up completely. After…

Buyers beware - they might not work!

I am a used car dealer. I bought Dorman 911-048 fuel gauges for a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe because Dorman products are usually good and cheaper than OEM from a franchised dealer. My mechanic installed two of these, but the fuel gauge still didn't work and continued to trigger OBD code P0267. I took it to the Hyundai dealer, they checked the sensors and said they weren't working. I bought 2 OEM Hyundai sensors and my mechanic replaced the Dorman sensors and they worked as they should. The fuel…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Minor problems

Our Santa Fe was showing the wrong fuel level and it was very frustrating! We had them appraised at our local Hyundai dealer and they wanted over $100 for each sensor, not counting new o-rings! Needless to say, this is a much better deal. Installation wasn't a problem for me as a mechanic, but it shouldn't be too difficult for your handyman. MAKE SURE THE FUEL TANK IS NOT FULL! If it's full, you'll make even more mess and stink inside the vehicle. Conclusion: You remove the rear shelves (10mm…

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Will be added later

It works, but here are some tips

There are no instructions in the kit but there are many videos available. Works great, but there are a few things to note: The locking ring should pop out and be put back in place. Try spraying with wd40 and using a special removal tool with a very large crowbar. It's easy to think you're done, but if the locking ring doesn't click, you'll get a smoke leak code in a few days or weeks. Take your time to make sure the floats don't get stuck. I had a lot of wobble on the driver's side on my '07…

Pros
  • The best in its niche
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Herat product for money. Works fine on my 2007 Santa Fe.

This is not the first time I have used Dorman parts to repair my car and again everything worked perfectly. Saved about 50% of the cost of this part compared to the original. On my 2007 Santa Fe, I replaced the failed stock fuel sensors with Dorman sensors. They are absolutely identical to the originals, they were easy to put on the injection pump and above all they worked; My check engine light went out right after installation. However, opening these two gas caps is no easy task. You must…

Pros
  • Easy Installation

  • Tape

They were a failure for me but a hit for others.

Bought a 2008 Santa Fe with 98,000 miles and found that the fuel gauges needed replacing as a full tank only registered as 1/2 full. I was hoping they would work for the price. Installed both and showed a completely blank / 0 rangefinder. Pull the thread back, making sure nothing confuses the swimmers. Again no display on the meter. Filled the tank up to 16 gallons and still empty/0. Decided to order stock sensors. The OEM sensors worked great. When I checked the ones that were originally…
